I am Intense. I do not apologize. I push the limits of myself and those around me. The dirt in my face and the bitter chill of speed are my drugs of choice and I induldge whenever possible. Every once in a while, we need to be reminded that weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re alive, and I am alive. The thrill is the finish and although I plan to get there first, Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;m taking you with me. I will live my life exceptionally and make every moment possible an Intense Experience.

c Intense was created during a certain moment in time, a time we will never get back. That period was a magical moment for our sport and we were lucky to be a part of it. There is only ever one beginning and we were there. We were there when Shaun Palmer decided to “try out” mountain biking and drove the cross-over of downhill mountain biking from an obscure activity to the front pages of national newspapers. Shaun refused to wear the lycra suits that the other downhill guys were racing and instead wore motoinspired baggy shorts and shirts. The world’s best downhillers, even when flying the colors of competing brands, still raced on Intense built chassis – Brian Lopes, Leigh Donovon, Mike King, Chris Kovarik, Greg Minaar, Sam Hill, Lisa Sher, Cheri Elliott, Vanessa Quinn, Sabrina Jonnier, Markus Stöckl and, of course, Shaun Palmer. I recently bought back Shaun’s silver-medal winning bike of Cairns, Australia. It now remains a permanent part of the Intense museum of bikes from our history. We had the bike photographed and included here in the 2015 catalog. I hope you will appreciate it as much as we do. Through it all though, we are currently experiencing the best times we have ever had and we are grateful for this – These are, in fact, the good old days for our company. In 2014, we launched the Tracer 275C carbon enduro bike and this has changed our company forever. This bike has been as transformative as anything we have ever done. Also this year, we signed long-time friend and former Intense racer (under another company’s badge), Brian Lopes. Brian is not only still one of the fastest guys on the planet going up or downhill, he is also a keen technical mind who is working closely with me and my development team to continuously improve our suspension set-up, our kinematics and geometries. Brian’s presence will be felt more and more in the new bikes we have coming in the years ahead. We are happy to share with you, in this catalog, our new Tracer 275 Alloy bike, designed, developed and manufactured in our Temecula, CA factory. We are also releasing a special edition 951 EVO with a full DVO suspension package that we think you will really love. You will also notice that we are no longer a “frame” company as we have evolved in the past two seasons into a “bike” company. Now you can have your Intense built with several different specification packages, all of which have been hand-picked by our developers, tested by our team riders, and tuned to optimize the technical nature of our framesets. This catalog is beautiful – it is a snapshot in time of where Intense is right this moment as a company. I am very proud of where we are and can’t wait to show you where we are going next. Once again, we are “in the moment” here at Intense. I plan to savour it even more this time as I know it’s a moment I will never have back.

VPP SUSPENSION balances different forces to eliminate unwanted compression without limiting bump absorption. The downward force on the pedals pushes most full suspension bikes down, resulting in unwanted suspension compression. VPP bikes use a patented link configuration and axle path to apply some of the pulling force from the chain to counteract the motion caused by pedaling.

Because the forces are balanced, VPP bikes remain able to absorb bumps when pedaling, unlike other designs that effectively lock out the rear suspension by applying too much chain pulling force. The result is plush travel with no pedal-induced compression or lock-out, and no need for manual lockouts or other compromises.

The Tracer is Intense’s 275 wheel-size 160mm trail bike that has become one of the topraced bikes on the global Enduro circuit. For 2015, the carbon and aluminum bikes have the exact same geometry as the all-new Tracer Alloy uses hydroformed tubes that mimic its carbon big brother while shedding over a pound from last year’s version. The Tracer is now available in three builds for alloy and three builds for carbon including the Factory model pictured here.
