Connecting People with Ideas.
Spring 2011 > Feature Project > Weddel Residence, Aberfoy by Planit Earth Landscaping Inc. > www.peli.ca
We see some truly amazing landscape architecture in our travels. We often have to stop and take a moment to appreciate the vision and the labour that went into creating these inspiring spaces. Because it’s difficult to visualize how a project will look when it’s done, Creative Landscape Depot launched its photoblog to inspire the landscape architects in all of us. Our goal is to connect people with ideas about landscape. We want to pay tribute to remarkable landscapers wherever we find them by sharing their achievements – their ideas – with people in our community. Find our blog at creativelandscapedepot.info and get your creative grasses growing.
Designer Insight Craig Robbins | Planit Earth Landscaping Inc.
Craig Robbins and Mike Oldreive, partners at Planit Earth Landscaping Inc., get excited about incorporating landscape design inside the home. “Landscape design goes beyond the pen and into the actual project,” says Robbins. Unlike construction projects that rely on straight edged or square materials, landscape design inside and outside the home takes its queues from the organic qualities of the materials to find the right fit and balance. Incorporating elements like wood and stone veneer complemented by bold, rectilinear lines produces an effortlessly simple, intuitively natural living space. The monumental fireplace – Robbins’ own design and installation – and the floor-to-ceiling windows provide a vista to be savoured all year round. One can gaze out at snow-capped pines from the warmth of the stone hearth to feel comfortably connected to the natural world. Because no two stones are exactly alike, the four builders who are also accredited designers at Planit Earth make for a formidable design/ build team. By eliminating the gap between design ideas and building realities, they can ensure quality and value is never compromised and that nothing is lost in the translation between design, materials, and installation.

Collaboration At Creative Landscape Depot, we provide the best landscaping materials available and draw on our network of the best contractors, designers, and architects to deliver the absolute best value services to our clients. It starts with our commitment to education, both for ourselves and our clients. We spend our off-season researching innovations and trends, finding new and more efficient sources for the highest quality and most sought-after materials. We also know what it’s like to have more ideas than resources, so we specialize in finding creative ways to fulfil great expectations by tapping our network of skilled design professionals.
Interior designer Linda Dolman of Accents for Living developed notes of classic and modern character by selecting appropriate hardware and furnishings for the Weddel residence – from custom copper-fittings for water features, right down to the carpeting. Her keen eye for colour, texture, and design elements can aid any homeowner in finding the accents to complete the aesthetic of a living space. Creative Landscape Depot takes the same approach in our attention to every stage of the design-build process, which makes Accents for Living a natural and productive collaborative partner for achieving amazing results.

Creative Landscapes A rock is just a rock... until you get creative. Seeing the meaning in a landscape takes equal parts imagination and knowledge. Landscape is a language, and you need to know the words before you can imagine what you want to say. At Creative Landscape Depot, we endeavour to teach you to speak with the elements of the land, and keep a meaningful dialogue going. The landscaping of our farmstead-turned-office at 1175 King St. North reflects the quality of our materials, the network of talented landscape architects and contractors, as well as our respect for the integrity of St. Jacobs’ historical fabric. Nestled behind the picturesque yellow brick home are our 27 bins of bulk landscaping materials and our lot of stone slabs, coping, and boulders. Call or visit Creative Landscape Depot today to learn more about the creative language of landscapes.
