FY17: WHAT WE ACCOMPLISHED The Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Econo my (OACCE) spent FY17 ensuring that Philadelphia, its residents, and its neighborhoods had opportunities to experience and celebrate creativity.

With 35 exhibits and special projects, OACCE showcased Exhibits + artists of all ages and skill Special Projects levels throughout City Hall.

OACCE’ launched the Arts Access Calendar in April 2017 and offered 315 free cultural events from OACCE or other organizations.

The Percent for Art Program completed 3 commissions that responded specifically to the spaces and their communities.

OACCE released a calendar of 215 performances, films, & more Philly Celebrates Jazz Events to observe Jazz Appreciation Month in April.

OACCE maintains the country’s largest and oldest public art collection and completed 18 collection management projects.

From dance instruction to performances, OACCE’s Programmed activities took place in every Council Districts Council District.

Percent for Art Applications

Our work celebrates and supports the city’s artists. We create opportunities for children and adults to participate in arts -infused programs and experiences throughout the city’s neighborhoods. Our citywide Arts Education Fair introduced teachers, librarians, and neighborhood organizations to arts education programs and helped 53 arts organizations extend their reach.

All OACCE activities — performances, fairs and festivals, and art exhibits — were free and in neighborhoods throughout the city. More than 109,000 Philadelphians had access to quality arts experiences and resources.

Through OACC’ES exhibitions, the Philly Youth Theatre Festival, Make Art Philly, and other programs, OACCE connected 1,622 students to opportunities for arts enrichment.

Artists

Philadelphia’s vibrancy is from the artists that call the city home. OACCE supported and promoted 836 visual and performing artists through the Percent for Art program, exhibits, neighborhood activities, and more.

Partners

OACCE worked with over 100 City offices, arts organizations, community groups, and others to extend the reach and impact of the Office’s initiatives. OACCE’s arts education and neighborhood activities and exhibits would not have succeeded without these partners.

The Percent for Art Program received responses from 454 local and national artists interested in creating enduring site-specific work for the City’s public art collection.

$700K In Artist Support

OACCE supported artists with $700,000 in direct support, making Philadelphia a welcoming home for creative businesses and individual artists. This support comes from both City and other public and private sources.

THE PHILADELPHIA CULTURAL FUND The Philadelphia Cultural Fund (PCF) is a non-profit corporation established by the City to support and enhance the city’s cultural life and vitality. PCF is funded in whole by the City of Philadelphia through OACCE. The Fund awarded more than $3 million in general operating and project grants to local arts organizations and programs.

Through its grants, the Fund generated $5.8M in direct expenditures .

The Fund awarded a record number of organizations this year, with 302 arts and culture grantees.

PCF grantees provided 4.7M free quality arts and cultural experiences—an average of 3 per Philadelphian.
