CREATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF CREATIVE TOURISM Conceptualized in the early 2000’s by the professors Greg Richards and Crispin Raymond, the creative tourism is a growing trend, able to produce a real shift within the tourist sector. That’s why the Creative Tourism Network® was created in 2010, in order to structure and promote this emerging, complex and versatile sector. The next step, is logically the creation, this november 2015, of the International Institute of Creative Tourism. Through this new program, the Creative Tourism Network® pretends to provide a wide array of tools, aimed to professionalize the sector. One of them are the professional trainings addressed to international entrepreneurs in order to help them with the creation and management of such a specific segment as well as to prevent the instrumentalization of this new sector and avoid its misappropriation by ethicalness businesses. The Institute offers a wide range of trainings and seminars combining theoretical and practical approaches, through which international stakeholders will be able to launch their own projects and create their destination branding around the creative tourism. Those courses are organized in their own destinations and eventually completed by a study tour held in Barcelona, where the creative tourism concept emerged and that keeps being the reference internationally. The International Institute of Creative Tourism also counts on the Observatory of Creative Tourism and the Creative Tourism Incubator, both based in Barcelona, to foster the engineering and the best practices. In this sense, the Creative Tourism Network® rewards as “Creative Friendly”, the programs and destinations that demonstrate a special interest to offer those new tourists the most authentic experiences as well as to enhance to local economy.
