We are Effy, Penny and Jorge we are from TJ&LA, we are also friends, but most importanly we are the creators of this magazine. Aproximately a year ago, we had the idea of making a magazine about a variety of subjects, unfortunately many things occurred and we could not continue on with the idea of the magazine. A month ago, we talked about the magazine and decided to get it done. We started from zero, the only things we had were a lot of ideas and the name of the magazine, which we decided to name “Crescendolls� (Penny came up with the name). We took the name from a song of the most famous dj set in the world, which probably everyone knows about: DAFT PUNK. When we first started the magazine, it was a very stressful and sometimes even frustrating process, but we continued on with it, until we finally finished it. At the end all the hard work was definitely worth it because we were satisfied with the magazine and to have discovered a lot of talent and many other hidden things in this city, in San Diego and of course in the world. We really hope you like the magazine and that you truly enjoy it from start to finish, as much as we enjoyed making it.

Hola, nosotras somos Effy, Penny y Jorge, somos de Tijuana y los Angeles, somos amigas y lo mas importante somos las creadoras de esta revista. Aproximadamente hace un aĂąo se nos ocurrio crear una revista sobre diversos temas, pero lamentablemente por diferente situaciones que se presentaron, no se pudo realizar. Hace un mes volvimos a hablar sobre la revista y decidimos retomar nuestra idea y trabajar en ella. Empezamos de cero, lo unico que teniamos eran muchas ideas y el nombre de la revista, la cual decidimos que se llamaria “Crescendollsâ€? (A penny se le ocurrio el nombre). El nombre lo tomamos de una cancion del dj set mas famoso del mundo, al cual probablemente todos conocen: DAFT PUNK. Al principio realizar la revista fue algo estresante y aveces hasta frustrante, pero seguimos trabajando con ella hasta finalizarla. Conseguimos un excelente resultado, estabamos satisfechas con la revista y mas aun con haber podido descubrir talentos y muchisimas cosas ocultas en esta ciudad,en San Diego y por supuesto en otras partes del mundo. Esperamos que la revista sea de su agrado y que realmente disfruten esta revista de principio a fin, al igual que nosotros disfrutamos crearla.

Do you know what DKNY stands for? Sabes que significa DKNY? Donna Karan New York! DKNY came out with very lovely ideas. This collection look so freash and juvenile. We want this pieces, we want them all and we want them NOW! DKNY couldn’t have picked better colors: red, black, blue, gold, white & gray. Plus not to mention that they picked red lipstick and very soft make up for the photoshoot. DKNY ha sacado ideas muy buenas para esta coleccion, se ve que es una coleccion muy fresca y juvenil. No podemos esperar a que salga, queremos todas las piezas y las queremos ahora mismo. DKNY no pudo haber escojido mejores colores: rojo, negro, azul, dorado, blanco y gris. Tambien escojieron labial rojo y maquillaje muy ligero para su sesion fotografia, lo cual es genial.

20Straight out ofMexico La magia de todas las leyendas mixetcas a sido plasmada en tela,por diez artistas mexicanos de Oaxaca, Mexico en los clasiscos tenis converse. Los artitas buscaban recuperar sus tradiciones y raíces con el único proposito de darlas a conocer al mundo. Se eligieron 10 leyendas, que se plasmarían en dichos tenis y asi conformar la exposicion “Pintando pasos”. Los artistas recurrieron a la originalidad, autenticidad, mucha creatividad e imaginacion, para lanzar al mundo un poco de cultura mexicana en el arte contemporáneo. El resultado fue una seria de grabados únicos e irrepetibles, los cuales a travéz de una imagen captaron la madgia de las leyendas mixtecas. Converse impulso este proyecto a artistas MEXICANOS y ha sido un gran exito.
The magic of the Mixtec legends has been captured on canvas by ten Mexican artists from Oaxaca, Mexico in the very classic converse tennis shoes. The artists were seeking to recover their traditions and roots for the sole purpose of making them known to the world. Ten legends where choosen to be put in the tennis shoes and put together the exhibition “Pintando pasos”(painting steps). The artists used originality, authenticity, a lot of creativity and imagination, to share with the world a bit of Mexican culture. The result was a series of unique prints, which captured in a image the magic of Mixtec legends. Converse sponsored this project and it has been a great success

We picked out a few sunglasses, at a reasonable price, because yes Alexander Wang’s version of these glasses are just great, but I dont think “normal” people would sepnd over $300 Dlls. on a pair of those, when you can get something similiar and cute for a cheaper price. Arte caminante! Rojo Rodriguez nos habla de como surgio su linea de ropa, enfocandose a sus famosos dibujos en tenis. Todo comenzó en marzo del 2008 cuando un amigo dueño de una tienda de Tijuana tenia un stock de tenis lisos sin ningún dibujo o grabado, que no se vendían, el sabia que yo dibujaba y me dijo que si no quería hacer diseños en los tenis y felizmente le dije que si; los dibuje y en menos de una semana tuvieron frutos muchachas comenzaron a comprar los tenis, para ese entonces un joven me pregunto que si no podia hacer lo que ella quisiera y le dije claro por que no, de ahi nace la idea de pimpear al estilo y gusto de las personas con un fin de crear un poco de arte electro pop con el toque de las personas, las cuales deciden que quieren en sus tenis y yo pongo la creatividad. Con el tiempo la marca tomo muchos caminos ya que lo que en el momento estaba de moda para la gente seria plasmado por mi, pero nunca dejando atras el echo de que todo aquel joven podria caminar con arte en sus pies.
De un tiempo para aca, ya que yo de niño tenia mucho tiempo libre para pensar e imaginar cosas simpre tenia en mi mente historia sobre super heroes que yo inventava les daba un principio un problema un climax y un final todos de niños avecez pasamos por eso, ya que yo estaba pintando ya los tenis muchas ideas de mi niñes llegaron a mi cabeza y cree un personaje muy particular para mi marca el cual llevaria como nombre shiny head, un super heroe exhibisionista entro otros, sexy, shuy, shampusito y rastrillo y bob rod y martin. Sin mas preanbulos rojo rodriguez es una marca la cual tiende a rayar tenis dando asi un teni unico y original que nadie mas tendra asi mismo por eso los dos tenis son completamente diferentes para mantener ese énfasis de un teni unico y darle al mundo un mensaje de hoy en dia ya es posible camiar con arte en nuestros pies.
Walking Art! Rojo Rodriguez explains how his clothing brand emerged, specially focusing on his famous drawings on tennis shoes. (We tried to transate what he said as accurate as we could) It all started on March 2008 when a friend who owned a shop in Tijuana had a lot of plain white tennis shoes, with no drawings or anything on them and they wouldn’t sell. He knew that I liked drawing, so he told me if I wanted to make designs to the tennis shoes and I happily said yes. In less than a week the tennis shoes were selling like hot bread. By that time, a girl s pecifically asked me, if I could draw her the design she wanted on her shoes, and I said yes. From that is where the “pimped”tennis shoes withwith the only purpose to creat some electro pop art with a touch of people’s style, who are the one who decide what they want on their shoes and I put the creativity. As time went by,the brand took many paths, since at the moment all this wasa trend, that I was creating, but always thinking about athe person walking with art on their feet.
When I was a little kid, I had a lot of free time to think and imagine things, I always had a story in my mind about super heros that I would make up. I woudl give the story a climax, and an ending. So anyway, one day I was designing the drawing for some shoes and all the stories I made up , when I was a child came into my mind, so I created a very particular character for my brand whos name is Shiny Head, there is also some other heroes who are Sexy, Shuy, Shampusito, Rastrillo, Bob Rod and Martin. So lets quit all the talking, Rojo Rodriguez is a brand which tends to draw on tennis shoes, to give a very unique shoe and originality that no one else will ever have. All the designs are different, so stay true to the purpose of the brand, and tto give a message to the world, that all people can walk with art on our feet.

Es la mezcla de la mente, creatividad y perversion de un estudiante de ingenier铆a en electr贸nica y baterista de una banda de death metal ( ahora guitarrista y vocal de esta banda ),un cinemat贸grafo, conductor de un programa de internet y dise帽ador de modas. Creando asi junto un proyecto, diferente, inovador y un poco radical a lo que acostumbraban crear los integrantes. A mediados del 2010 se agregan dos nuevos integrantes a la alineacion de la banda.
This band is the mixture of the mind, creativity and perversion of an engineering student in electronics and an ex drummer for a death metal band (now guitarist and voice of this band), a cinematographer, host of an internet show and a fashion designer. I put together a project so different, innovative and a bit radical to what the members used to create. In mid-2010 two new members joined the band.

This month of August is full of amazing events in San Diego, Tijuana, Rosarito, Mexicali and Ensenada. For many of us August is still a month of vacations and to other not anymore, but even if we are on vacation or not, we should definitely attend at least one of these big events in one of these cities. This month is perfect for electronic music lovers since August has many events with international DJs, with genres ranging from deep house to trance. If you’re the type of person who likes relaxing events, delicious food and wine tasting, then do not hesitate to attend to the famous wine harvest festival, held in Ensenada, Mexico and most specifically in the Valle de Guadalupe. The wine harvest festival ends on August 22, if you want to see all the event, that will be taking place, please visit their website ww.fiestasdelavendimia.com. If you love San Diego, they also are many cultural festivals, large concerts, among other things. Well the point is that, there is no reason to stay home this month, with so many exciting events to attend.

Este mes es perfecto para los amantes de la musica electronica, ya que Agosto cuenta con muchos eventos con DJ’s internacionales, con generos que van desde el deep house hasta el trance. Si eres de el tipo de personas que les gustan las cosas mas tranquilas ,la comida sabrosa y la degustacion de vinos, entonces no dudes en asisitir a las famosas fiestas de la vendimia, que se celebran en Ensenada,Mexico y la mayoria especificamente en el Valle de Guadalupe. Claro que si eres un amante de San Diego, alla tambien hay muchos festivales culturales, grandes conciertos, entre otras cosas. Corvette Diner, is a fabolous restaurant, which takes you back to the 1950´s. Evertyhing about this resaturant is excelent, from food to service. This place is extremely fun, with very entertaining waitresses in roller skates that are wearing poodle skirts with their puffy hair. They waiters and waitresses welcome you to the restaurant by throwing straws at you and sometimes even singing while dancing, and yes... while roller skating. The food, is just very delicous and tasty, the menu is pretty much, burgers, milkshakes, basically American cuisine. The resaturant is just so nicely decorated, with old cars coming out of the walls, an arcade, old photos and all these wonderful things. Corvette diner is definitely a great place to go to and have a fun day. Corvette is located in Point Loma and Ocean beach, so dont hesitate and go visit this great place.
Corvette Diner, un restaurante fabuloso, que te permite volver a los años 1950. Todo acerca de este resaturante es excelente, de la comida hasta el servicio. Este lugar es muy divertido, con meseras muy entretenidas que andan en patines mientras usan faldas de poodle, con su pelo esponjado. Los meseros y meseras te dan la bienvenida al restaurante lanzando popotes en tu mesa y en ocasiones incluso cantando mientras bailan en patines. La comida, es muy deliciosa, el menú consta de hamburguesas, malteadas y muchas cosas, en fin cocina Americana. El resaturante esta perfectamente decorado, con coches viejos en todos lados, un lugar de juegos, fotos viejas y muchisimas cosas. Corvette Diner es definitivamente un gran lugar para ir a tener un gran dia de diversión. Corvette tiene dos ubaciones, una en Point Loma y otra en Ocen Beach, así que no dudes en ir a visitar este gran lugar.

Revue is a bar that was opened in the summer of 2010 and is located in the downtown area of Tijuana, between Sixth and Seventh Street on Revolucion. Many well known DJs have played in this palce, including Damian Lazarus, who is internationally recognized. Revue is a very comfortable bar with low lighting, making it a very relaxing place with a very large bar, but once the music starts in this great place, you can easily notice the great sound system they have. Revue will soon open its second floor and it will be inaugurated with an international dj from Germany named Nick Curly on September 18. If you have not visited this place, you should definitely go and enjoy the great music in their events or simply go spend a great time with your friends.s

Revue es un bar que fue inagurado en el verano del 2010 y se encuentra en la zona centro de Tijuana, entre la calle Sexta y Septima en la Revolución. En este gran lugar se han presentado muchos Dj’s reconocidos, entre ellos Damian Lazarus, que es mundialmente reconocido. Revue es un bar muy comodo con poca iluminacion, lo cual lo hace un lugar muy relajante con una barra muy extensa, pero en cuanto empieza la musica en este gran lugar, se nota que tiene un gran sonido. Proximamente se abrira el segundo piso del Revue y se inagurara con con un dj internacional de Alemania llamado Nick Curly, el 18 de Septiembre. Si no has visitado este lugar, definitivamente tienes que ir y disfrutar de la gran musica en sus eventos o solo ir para pasa un gran rato con tus amigos.
