2 | PREMIER CRICKET AWARDS – SEASON 2020-21

WELCOME Welcome to the Premier Cricket Awards. I’d like to congratulate everyone in Premier Cricket for successfully delivering an exciting season despite the early COVID disruptions to our fixtures. It has been a significant team effort from everyone involved and Victorian cricket should be proud of what we’ve been able to achieve in season 2020-21. I’d like to congratulate tonight’s winners of the Jack Ryder medal and Una Paisley medal. It is a wonderful honour to be a recipient of these awards and you follow in the footsteps of some of the great names in Victorian cricket. As the pathway to the state’s elite cricket teams, we were delighted to again see several Premier Cricket players make their Victorian and WBBL and BBL debuts over the course of the season. I’d also like to thank each volunteer at all of our Premier Clubs for the many hours they contribute behind the scenes each season.

WELCOME TO THE 2020–21 PREMIER CRICKET AWARDS.

The quality preparation of players we see on the field, and the match day hosting by all clubs is not possible without this strong network of support behind the scenes. With restrictions continuing to ease and our way of life returning to something closer to normal, let’s take the time to celebrate the great cricket that was played, the stories that will be told at the club for years to come and the friendships made. On behalf of everyone at Cricket Victoria, thank you and congratulations to all our award winners.

22 | PREMIER CRICKET AWARDS – SEASON 2020-21

UMPIRING RECOGNITION AWARD TREVOR FINLAYSON This season’s Umpire Recognition Award recipient is Trevor Finlayson. Trevor has been on the Premier Cricket Umpires panel since 2003, having now umpired 269 Premier matches. Trevor has also been an on-field mentor to 4th XI Premier Umpires for the last 3 seasons, and he also umpires many school and Melbourne Club XI matches mid-week. In addition to his Premier Cricket officiating, Trevor also makes a significant off-field contribution to Umpiring, by editing the VCAUSA Law 43 magazine – a role that he has been doing since 2014. Trevor has also been a member of the VCAUSA since 2003, and has served 5 terms (years) as President, plus another 5 terms as Treasurer of the VCAUSA, and was made a VCAUSA Life Member in 2017. Cricket Victoria acknowledges Trevor’s great contribution to cricket and umpiring in this state. This year’s Umpires Recognition Award goes to Trevor Finlayson.

UMPIRE MILESTONES Congratulations to the following umpires who reached milestones during the 2020-21 season, a fantastic achievement by all.
