2 | PREMIER CRICKET AWARDS – SEASON 2019-20

WELCOME Welcome to the Premier Cricket Awards. For the first time, the awards will be presented digitally this year and I encourage you all to tune in. Coronavirus has certainly changed the way we live and impacted the end of our cricket season. I know many of you will have been disappointed to miss out on completing finals campaigns and attending end of season events at your clubs. In normal circumstances, it is a fantastic time of the year to bring everyone together and celebrate the achievements and stories of the season. In saying that, I’d like to thank you for complying with the government regulations and giving Victoria the best chance of reducing the impact of the virus on our community. I’d like to congratulate tonight’s winners of the Jack Ryder medal and Una Paisley medal. It is an honour to be a recipient of these awards and you follow in the footsteps of some of the great names in Victorian cricket. As the pathway to the state’s elite cricket teams, we were delighted to again see several Premier Cricket players make their Victorian debuts over the course of the season including four debutants in First Class cricket.

WELCOME TO THE 2019–20 PREMIER CRICKET AWARDS.

I’d also like to thank each volunteer at all of our Premier Clubs for the many hours they contribute behind the scenes each season. The quality preparation of players we see on the field, and the match day hosting by all clubs is not possible without this strong network of support behind the scenes. While the season finished differently to how many of us hoped, let’s take the time to celebrate the cricket that was played, the stories that were told and the friendships made. On behalf of everyone at Cricket Victoria, thank you and congratulations to all our award winners.
