THE SETUP

The policing of American cities is changing fast, evolving at the speed of technology and innovation.

Police Departments are relying more and more on specialized units to combat gangs, drugs, guns, and cyber-crimes that proliferate onto the streets. These Task Force entities are where the elite officers in each department aspire to work at, and where the action really is.

Task Force is an embed police show that travels to THREE cities, THREE POLICE DEPARTMENTS, with various Task Force Units that are investigating, arresting, and chasing some of America’s most dangerous criminals. These Task Force Units are wide-ranging and specialize in crimes such as: 0 Narcotics Task Force 0 Gun Smuggling 0 SWAT Teams 0 Auto Crimes 0 Human Smuggling 0 Street Crimes Units 0 Border Operations 0 Helicopter Rescue 0 Warrant Squads 0 Kidnap for Ransom 0 Fugitive 0 Elite Vice Task Force will be embedded with the elite units weekly, leading up to the air date, tracking critical investigations, criminals, and fast pace action. Task Force will have two, in-studio hosts. These hosts will be Police Chiefs, who have worked at major, police departments across the United States. For Season One, we have secured access to former Police Chiefs of Newark, NJ, Chicago PD Gary McCarthy, and the head of Arizona’s Department of Public Safety, Frank Milstead.

Frank Milstead Colonel AZDPS

Colonel Frank Milstead was selected by Governor Doug Ducey to lead the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS). From 2010-2015, Frank Milstead served as the Chief of Police for the Mesa Police Department, and before Mesa PD, he served twentyfive-years with the Phoenix Police Department. Colonel Milstead currently serves as the chair of the Alliance to Combat Transnational Threats (ACTT), an ad hoc group that consists of federal, state, tribal, county, and municipal law enforcement agency. He coordinates efforts along the Arizona-Mexico border to dismantle smuggling operations. He also serves as the Vice-Chair for the Arizona High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA), whose mission is to facilitate, support, and enhance collaborative, drug control efforts among law enforcement agencies.

Colonel Milstead is a Board Member of the FBI National Executive Institute, the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission, the Rocky Mountain Information Network (RMIN). He participates on numerous boards and commissions within the State of Arizona on topics to include human trafficking, substance abuse, border security, and traffic safety. Colonel Milstead maintains memberships in the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF), and the Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police (AACOP). Additionally, Colonel Milstead is a member of Rotary International and a Board Member for the Genesis Academy for at-risk youth.

GARRY MCCARTHY Newark Police Chief and Chicago Police Department

In 2006, McCarthy left his position with the New York Police Department to take over the Police Department of Newark, New Jersey. McCarthy was chosen for this role by Mayor Cory Booker and appeared with Booker in the documentary series Brick City. McCarthy presided over a sharp reduction in crime during his tenure in Booker’s administration in Newark with homicides declining twentyeight percent, shootings declining forty-six percent, and overall crime declining twenty-one percent. McCarthy was hired by Mayor Rahm Emmanuel to take over the Chicago Police Department shortly after Emanuel’s election in early 2011. The number of crimes and murders in Chicago declined during his tenure (with deaths declining from 525 in 2011 to 505 in 2012 to 415 in 2013).
