The Club House
Crown Jewel of Marin Adjacent to the City of Novato, Marin County presents a new opportunity for passive recreation and living. The project consists in a 867-acre residential development, providing plenty of green spaces, conservation zones and wonderful amenities inside the property. Among these we can find a Club House, an Ecumenical Chapel, the Eco-Learning Center and a network of trails and bike paths.
The goal of the project is to provide plenty of choices for housing, since everyone is welcome to the Crown Jewel of Marin: students, single families, multiple families, roommates, seniors, etc. All of the residences are equipped with resource-saving green technologies.

SAUGUS STATE HISTORIC PARK The Saugus State Historic Park was born as a solution to protect and remediate a vast 1,100-acre open space located in the City of Santa Clarita, next to the Saugus Water Reclamation Plant. The site has been obsolete for decades since it is heavily polluted due its previous use. This new interim use of the Historic Park will foster passive recreation and allow users to enjoy one of the best hiking places in the city. The new vegetation and the water catchment areas will aid natural remediation, while the parking fees build a budget. The future of the site aims to help the economy of the city by providing employment opportunities.

ROSARITO NORTE natural park The Rosarito Norte Natural Park opened its doors in September of 2013. Its design was conceived to reuse greywater from the adjacent CESPT treatment plant, in Rosarito Mexico. The main purpose of the project was to provide shelter for wildlife in the urban environment,
restore natural ecosystems and to house recreational facilities like sport courts, trails, picnic areas, viewpoints & birdwatching activities. The 4.65acre park was conceived by the Autonomous University (UABC) and has been awarded by the Tijuana Innovadora non-profit organization.

The lake uses treated water, and was capable of supporting fish life, turtles, birds, etc.
The original design, conceived by the students, was modified previously and during the construction process. The park was constructed by CESPT employees.

Landscape Intervention in the Valle de las Palmas Creek Area
UABC CAMPUS IMPROVEMENTS As a result of studying in the Autonomus University of Baja California (UABC) many of the design projects consisted in rehabilitating, improving or creating new spaces for the students. Some of them consisted in architectural design while others in landscape interventions. Between the years 2011-2013 the following projects were conceived: Heavy-Use Building, Students Center, Landscape Improvement Project of the Otay Campus, Landscape Improvement Project of the Valle de las Palmas Campus, Constructed Wetland & the Landscape Intervention in the VDP Creek Area. While the goals for each project differ from one another, the same design principles were applied to almost every case (see list in the right):
1) The use of native plants for gardening 2) Incorporation of passivecooling techniques 3) The use of natural sunlight 4) Incorporation of green technology 5) Use of environmentally responsible / friendly companies / materials 6) The appropiate architectural style for the immediate social and urban context 7) Implementation of educational goals 8) Fully functional and ergonomic design

Thunderbird villa community improvement The California State Polytechnic University of Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) as part of its 606 graduate studio initiative “Revitalizing Lower L.A. River Communities has conceived the Thunderbird Villa Community Improvement Project. Serving the community of the Thunderbird Villa Mobile Home Park, located in South Gate, CA, the students have managed to engage with them to bring forth a landscape project using participatory design methods, in which the residents are

designing their own recreation space with the help of the students. So far, the community has finished the conceptual design and the construction phase is scheduled to begin in April 2016. Community organization, GIS analyses, graphic design and outreach techniques have been used during this process.

“PUERTA México” : THE AMERICAS THRESHOLD The Tijuana-San Ysidro International Border is by far the most transited border in the world. Every year, about 13,670,000 vehicles and 9,000,000 pedestrians cross the border (US-GSA 2013). The purpose of the competition hosted by Arquine is to conceive facilities that could potentially improve the situation of the migrant sector, as well as tourism and other local uses. In the Puerta Mexico project six main interventions are proposed: the redesign of the Mexico Bridge (currently known as Puente ‘El Chaparral’), the Digital District, the Informational Center for Migrants, the Tecate-Tijuana Train Station
Improvements and the overall urban image improvements and connections of existing and future projects in the area. A 3D model of the entire area was created in order to study the project better. The result would be the creation of more spaces for recreation, tourism, economic exchange, social help and cultural landmarks.

ARROYO ALAMAR URBAN DEVELOPMENT The Arroyo Alamar Urban Development and Regeneration Project (PRDUAA in Spanish) is a large-scale urban intervention in the city of Tijuana, Mexico motivated by environmental justice. The Alamar Creek is considered as a vital habitat in the binational region’s landscape character. This project aims for the protection and the transformation of this creek and its surroundings into urban facilities for recreation and civic uses. It has been locally awarded by UABC in 2013 and internationally presented at the XXI CIDEU Congress in Medellin, Colombia in 2014.
