URBAN LOBBY / MASTER PROJECT

The project proposes the urban regeneration of an industrial platform into an urban lobby where 3 main programs meet: buisness, commerce and culture. The Înfrățirea Industrial Platform was build in 1984 and at that time was one of the biggest tools and machinery producer in Europe. Once the communism fell, in 1990, the factory was left in ruins and in the end of 2015 it was demolished, despide the stable reinforced concrete structure. The situation with abandoned buildings can be found more and more often in Romania, and the new spaces created can offer great opportunity for a sustainable regeneration, but most of the times is ignored. The cradle to cradle or other sustainable concepts can be easily implemented for the new constructions to improve the quality of the inhabitants and help the environment. The chosen site is one that is goes through an urban reconversion, from industry to multi storey housing and commercial areas. The site is very close to the city center and easy accesable by public transportation. This future polarity center will lead the city one step closer to perfect, according to Jan Gehl, with the 3 main key points achieved: fresh air, exercise areas and social spaces. So it becomes a center with a new approach that brings new experiences for the city and makes it more livable, healthy and sustainable. Master project 6th year - 2016

PETIT CAFE / INTERIOR DESIGN

The cafe is one of the main attractions of the city known for its great coffe and the accesible location, in one of the parks from the city centre of Oradea and by the river side. The owner has to keep the existing green structure but wants to transform the interior into a modern one that will attract more customers and will freshen up the space. Our proposal was to transform the old space into a light one, with flexible functional arrangements. The cafe will be devided into 3 areas, by playing with different colours, textures and furniture: the lounge, the casual zone, and the bar in the middle, connecting them. The furniture design, the materials used and the differentiated colors on all spaces bring a fresh, dynamic and bright feeling to the design and hopefully will become an inspiration for its customers. The final result is a simple and minimalist one, typical for Scandinavian interiors. An extention of the terrace is requred, that can be protected and heaten up during cold seasons. ÆGGEPAKKERIET / MIXED COMPLEX

Godsbanen Master Plan is an urban area in continuous development located in the heart of Aarhus on the plot of the old train warehouse constructions. Due to the great amount of young people moving to Aarhus lately and the lack of apartments, the client wished for a youth housing program with very flexible spaces that are both desirable and affordable for young people who want to live in the city center. This area is Aarhus’s center of art and culture, a very active place with both indoor and outdoor activities for all ages. The main idea was to create 3 different modern housing buildings, with each offering different experiences while being connected to each other in a way that embraces the existing buildings as well as the surroundings. These 3 different buildings function mainly as housing with the possibility of developing restaurants, shops, and other facilities on the ground floor. To create more free space and enhance the active areas, part of the building has been lifted by creating an open ground floor. Because of the lack of green areas the proposal includes green roofs, green hanging gardens, and small parks in order to provide the residents with areas for relaxation and social events. Practical placement at SLETH Architects Office - 2015

AARCH WORKSHOPS / INTERIOR DESIGN

This project represents my solution to the task of coming up with a proposal for the attic of the Oradea University of Architecture which is presently used for storage. Since the school is currently in need of large and flexible spaces where students can study, read, and work together, my proposal suggests to transform this area into a creative space with workshops for the architectural department. The main idea is to divide the large area into smaller subunits that are flexible, modern, and naturally illuminated. Here students can work individually or in groups according to their preferences in inspiring and dynamic surroundings. This proposal includes a new innovative library provided with working and studying areas and two open workshops which can easily be rearranged into an area for presentations. Furthermore, the proposal includes an art workshop, a small kitchen, an area for printing and modeling, and a restroom for students. The materials chosen are highly contemporary and easy to maintain. Examples include white finish, visible beams of the structure, light wood finishes, mate glass, and epoxy resin floors. The proposed structure made of lamellar wood is very simple and easy to install, permitting large openings and the possibility to experiment with the interior spaces. A HEREFORD BEEFSTOUW / INTERIOR DESIGN

Hereford Beefstouw has a long history when it comes to classic Scandinavian design and art. The atmosphere in the restaurants is modern, casual, and minimalist focusing on high quality products. We took that same concept into the new restaurant that opened in Aarhus in place of the oldest brewery in town: Saint Clement’s Brewery. The task was to redesign the exterior and interior spaces while keeping the original elements from the old brewery and joining them in a minimalist and elegant way. The beautiful polished copper kettles from the brewery were kept in the restaurant, still in use, as main pieces of interest. The kitchen and the open grill that is covered with the same polished copper are placed in the middle of the space equipped with high performance technologies to keep away the food smell. The copper elements together with the light wooden custom-made furniture used for storage contrasted by the black ceiling creates a cozy and unique atmosphere for dining visitors. Practical placement at Bjarne Frost Design Office - 2013

MODERN KITCHEN AND BATH / COMPETITION

* Honorable Mention Awarded This project is the result of an international competition where the client was looking for creative and affordable solutions to maximize the functionality of a single-family home built in 1948 with one bedroom, one bathroom, and a small kitchen. The priorities were: functionality, affordability, renter-friendly, increasing storage spaces, ease of maintenance, and incorporating washer/dryer. We came up with a solution to create the most functional space possibly by rethinking a part of the bathroom as a space to enlarge the storage area of the kitchen. Wardrobes, the dryer, and the washer were proposed located in the new kitchen storage while the sink remained in the same position for economical reasons. In the bathroom, the toilet and the shower were kept in the same place as well although we made the suggestion of a walk-in shower. The materials used are light wood, white finish, and tiles to create a convincing illusion of lightness and wider space. Collaboration with Arch. Ruben Sabou - 2014

FACADE PROPOSAL / COMPETITION

* 3th Prize Awarded For this international competition the client was looking for a designer to illustrate the addition of 3 shed-roof “wall dormers” to his 1930’s post and beam barn house. To give the barn house a more fresh and modern look, I proposed the replacement of the old roof with one made of zinc while repainting the facade. The proposed shed roof accompanied by bigger windows offers more light and space for the second floor rooms. I illustrated 2 proposals: for the first one I suggested a white exterior paint combined with slate grey window frames and shutters. In the second proposal I chose a darker grey painting for the exterior and a light grey for the frame of the windows in order to create a façade that in a beautiful way blends in with the natural surroundings. All the initial positions of the windows were kept in place and with the same style as the original ones but made more energy efficient. The simple changes generate a beautiful and clear building by interpreting the past in a modern way. Individual work - 2015
