WHO AM I? (954) 918-1593 cristinapelaezh@gmail.com

Question everything.

All my life, I have been filled with curiosity. Filled with a longing to understand the world and make connections from one occurrence to another. Today, this longing translates through my designs and the way that I design very much reflects the way that I live: with meaning and purpose. Focusing on a humanistic approach, I have taken on the role of setting up people’s interactions, both with each other and with a space; creating every detail, even the smallest, to act as a guide. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. Because nothing in life, or in design, is random.

THE SOLO MILLENNIAL - wanderlust - culture - experience

- technology - authenticity - honesty

- community - self branding - FOMO

The Rise of the “Instagram Museum”

The purpose of this area of accommodations is to introduce a new way to cruise to a new, up and coming generation. By working with the idea of communal

living and common areas we are bringing people together in a way that will also make them want to come back.

Adding an installation to this area makes it fun and allows

- selfie dominated culture - self promotion - “new first person narrative of the museum experience” - reinventing museum culture - photography not allowed vs photography encouraged - in demand - expensive tickets - explore color, space, materials, and moods

Plant the Future

millennial to practice the idea of self-promotion that will

benefit the users as much as the client. By collaborating with different artists we can allow the space to be flexible and

ever changing for a new experience every time. As a way to give the users a sense of exclusivity, only those staying

in this section will be able to see the installations and have a totally separate experience as everyone else on the ship.

Rebecca Louise Law Biophilia- humans possess an innate tendency to seek connections with nature.

GIN MARE MEDITATION BAR Hospitality Design TAIPEI, TAIWAN A bar space based on the combination of Buddhist meditation techniques and Mediterranean culture. Made specifically for the residents of Taipei and their drinking habits.

17

“ M I N D F U L DRINKING” Gin Mare’s purpose is to change the culture of drinking to one that promotes a more conscious way

of living. Reflecting upon traditional Vajrayana Buddhist techniques of mindful drinking and meditating,

the experience provides a healing opportunity for the users. With

the use of natural lighting and raw elements, the space creates a pure

and refreshing ambience which allows the brand to preserve their Mediterranean qualities.

G I N M A R E Gin Mare is heavily influenced by Mediterranean culture which unites the love of gastronomy, the pleasant climate, a way of life with different values where time runs differently than the rest of the world. Their mission: to create a healthy and pure product/experience that will leave clients feeling good both inside and out.

49% of the population lack the metabolic enzyme to digest alcohol without having an overdose or cancer effects

18

The stages of meditation and mindful drinking are seen and experienced throughout this space through the separation and function of each floor:

TRANSITIONING

When a user enters the building through the ground floor, they are meant to immediately feel the calm ambience and forget all their worries outside.

A W A K E N I N G

As they make their way up to the first floor, they will awaken their senses to the Mediterranean ingrediants found in the garden and learn exactly how Gin Mare will work in their bodies as they consume it while meditating.

I M M E R S I N G

Moving on to the second floor, the users immerse themselves in the process of meditation. The hanging pods are meant to isolate them from their surroundings to encounter the intimate moment of self awareness.

L I B E R A T I N G

As the final floor approaches, they repose their minds and their bodies, as they lounge on the rooftop stairs while looking at the serene water and filtered city view.

EXPERIMENTING WITHENERGETIC S I M P L I C I T Y With his many contradicting qualities, Marvin Sterling lives a uniquely exciting life. Wanting to capture his full essence in my design, I included elements of his tranquil personality and demanding job in my concept. I came up with a way to combine his energetic work life and simple personal life and based my design off of that.

You can see the application of the concept in the floor plan by the separation of the third and fourth floors. The third floor represents his more private side and is meant to only be used by him and his more intimate guests. The fourth floor represents his more social and energetic side and is meant for all of his social gatherings and many guests.
