CROWN BASEBALL

A LETTER FROM THE COACH It’s a great honor and privilege to coach at Crown because of the core Christian values and culture of brotherhood created by our coaches and players. Crown College Baseball is all about constant improvement and comradery. We strive to help our team develop into great baseball players and great men. It is through challenges and adversity that life skills and leadership are learned. Each day is an opportunity to improve academically, physically, and spiritually as a team. We expect championship-level effort, attitude, and focus as we see each day as a game day. Baseball is an amazing game, and we will have a blast as we compete for a conference championship.

MEET THE TEAM JT ADAMS

GIDEON DUNN

“Being a member of the Crown Baseball team has shown me what hard work is about, and how to overcome adversity and keep working.”

“It’s a family that is built through adversity, success, and faith.”

TANNER PRUETT “I’m able to do more than just play baseball at Crown. I get to worship God on the field and represent Him. There’s a deep brotherhood on this team. The team has my back and I have theirs. Every other team can say the same, but the difference at Crown is that God is at the center of it all. When God is the focal point, powerful things can happen. Out of my 3 years of being here, I have definitely seen God work in me and in other players.”

Academic Support Our expectation is that each player will earn a GPA of 3.0 or greater. For first year players and “at risk” students, each student will create a schedule for the semester. All of their grades are recorded onto this plan, and a copy of each class syllabus is turned in with the calendar. Academic meetings are scheduled weekly or as needed; academic help is provided in the form of tutors, the writing center, and workshops.

Leadership Training Cohesiveness is developed when our leaders relate to their teammates and use their influence to shape decisions and strengthen commitment levels. Leadership training is open to anyone interested. It consists of ten weekly workshops where we meet to discuss The Team Captain’s Leadership Manual by Jeff Janssen.

Career Development We have developed a four-year plan with the Crown College Career Services Department to help prepare our student athletes for their professional lives. The basic outline is: Year 1: Self-assessment and Resume Writing Year 2: Internships and Job Shadowing Year 3: Grad School Advising and Networking Year 4: Interview Preparation

Community Service Our community service events include volunteering as local churches and helping hospitals with patient visits.
