Hotel information Talking about history • The Statue of the Republic was inaugurated on 14th July 1883 and gave its name to the square in 1889, becoming the symbol of the French Republic in the capital • In 1866, Davioud, the Ville de Paris’ official architect who had redesigned the square, erected the building where the Crowne Plaza Paris-République is today located.
• The building became the Holiday Inn Paris-République in 1982. It changed its name in 2009, moving upmarket to become the Crowne Plaza Paris-République.
