According to the Information Technology Amendment Act 2008, Government of India. CERT-In (The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team) has been labeled to perform security functions like :
Notifying and Reporting Cyber Security Incidents – CERT-In is the National Incident Response Centre, It’s primary task is to report cybercrime incidents to the common citizens and alerts businesses and government agencies about the latest cybersecurity trends and prevailing threats.
Set Up Emergency Protocols to Control Cybersecurity Damage – Another important task of CERT-In is to set up emergency guidelines and security protocols to handle the damage of cybersecurity incidents.
Collecting, Analyzing and Sharing Major Information on Cybersecurity – CERT-In collects, analyzes and share the major cyber security incidents to common people, business and agencies across India.
Create Incident Response Plan After Cyber Incidents – CERT-In create incident response plan for the organizations – who don’t have the required expertise and in-house capabilities to deal with cyber security incidents.
Issue Guidelines Regarding the Vulnerabilities and Reporting of Cyber Incidents – CERT-In is responsible for issue guidelines and whitepapers regarding the vulnerabilities related to cyber security incidents and also laying out the procedures – practices to prevent and report incidents as and when they are recorded.
