Day 4 Vega de Terrón, Salamanca, Barca d’Alva Today you’ll board a coach and set off for the glorious Spanish city of Salamanca, where you’ll enjoy a guided tour and lunch. This gorgeous city is arguably one of the most beautiful in Spain, and boasts sunlit sandstone buildings along with a majestic city square and an ancient university.
Day 6 Régua, Lamego, Entre-os-Rios
Enjoy free time to explore Régua before travelling to Lamego to visit one of Portugal’s best museums. Once an episcopal palace, this beautiful building is home to a vast collection of paintings, tapestries and jewellery. Afterwards, return to where your ship waits in Pinhão and continue on to Entre-os-Rios.
Day 7 Entre-os-Rios, Vila Nova de Gaia
This morning, cruise back to the enchanting city of Vila Nova de Gaia. On arrival, join a fascinating tour of nearby Porto, which sits just across the river. Here, you’ll be led past a collection of the city’s most famous attractions, and visit a local port winery for a tour and tasting.

Day 2 Vila Nova de Gaia, Pinhão
Today you begin your cruise along the spectacular Douro River. As you cruise this morning, you’ll take part in a Portuguese lesson, during which you’ll learn some essential phrases of this beautiful language. On arrival in Régua, you’ll disembark the ship and join an excursion to the Douro Museum, which presents a fantastic exhibition on the history of the Douro wine region. Enjoy sunset accompanied by traditional Fado music as you cruise to Pinhao for dinner at a local quinta, a traditional Portuguese winery.
Day 3 Pinhão, Vega de Terrón, Castelo Rodrigo
Today, cruise across the border into Vega de Terrón in Spain. Enjoy some time at leisure before joining an excursion to Castelo Rodrigo.

Day 2 Budapest.
After breakfast this morning, the history, beauty and charm of Budapest is illuminated as a local guide leads you through the city. See Matthias Church, a breathtaking symphony of colour that displays flawless beauty, then visit the Fisherman’s Bastion and Heroes’ Square. You’ll also have the chance to see the city’s most famous structure, the spectacular Hungarian Parliament Building.
Day 6 Passau. Following breakfast on board this morning, travel to the idyllic city of Passau. On a fascinating guided tour, you’ll discover that Passau flaunts a distinctly baroque character and intriguing history. This pretty town was rebuilt in the style after two catastrophic fires that left it in ruins in the 1600s. Afterwards, you have the opportunity to embark on a Salzburg tour including sights from “The Sound of Music” or visit the Czech town of Ceský Krumlov, home to more than 300 historical buildings. Tonight enjoy a traditional Bavarian experiences as you sample local beer & Bavarian snacks, accompanied by traditional folk music, song and dance. Day 7 Regensburg. Here, a guided tour tells of the medieval city’s journey through the ages. See such sites as the iconic Old Town Hall, the World Heritage-listed city centre, and the remains of the Romanesque fortress walls, including one of the country’s most ancient stone buildings, the Porta Pretoria. Day 8 Nuremberg.
Continue to Nuremberg, the site of Hitler’s infamous rallies, held annually from 1927 to 1938. Nuremberg played a pivotal role for the Nazis and you’ll learn all about the city and indeed the era during a fascinating World War II tour that includes such sites as the Zeppelin Field and the Palace of Justice.
Day 4 Vienna.
With an entire day at leisure, you will have the opportunity to decide how you’ll shape your experience in glorious Vienna. Perhaps you may pay a visit to the Hofburg area, or might like to head to a cosy coffee house where you can try a traditional Sachertorte. Day 5 Dürnstein, Melk. Cruise to the quaint town of Dürnstein, where you can walk over cobbled streets past 16th-century town houses and taverns. You’ll find the town dominated by the hilltop ruins of the castle where King Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned in 1192. Afterwards, dock in the surprisingly picturesque city of Melk and join a local guide for a tour through magnificent Melk Abbey, an active Benedictine monastery since 1089.

Day 9 Bamberg. One of the few German cities that wasn’t destroyed during World War II, the World Heritage-listed city of Bamberg beckons this morning. You’ll be treated to a guided tour, during which the history will come to life as you gaze upon such sights as the Old Town Hall and the Bamberg Cathedral. A visit to one of the historic taverns is the best place to get a taste for the local Bavarian culture. Day 10 Würzburg.
The architectural beauty that further defines Würzburg is on show today as you see the gardens of the Würzburg Residence. Here, a walk through Würzburg Court Garden is a delight, with its terraced gardens and water basin encircled by stunning yew trees. Afterwards, you are given the opportunity to discover the beautiful medieval town of Rothenburg.
Day 11 Miltenberg.
Be greeted by the friendly locals of Miltenberg and learn about their culture as you are welcomed into their homes for coffee and cake. Explore this beautifully evocative town perfectly positioned at the confluence of the Tauber and Main rivers. Later, you have the opportunity to discover the beautiful medieval town of Rothenburg.
As you cruise into the riverside city of Cologne, head to the Sun Deck and watch as the magnificent twin spires of its famous cathedral, the Kolner Dom, appear on the horizon. Disembark your ship and take a short drive to the town of Brühl. Here, pay a visit to World Heritage-listed Augustusburg Castle and Falkenlust hunting lodge, the lavish rococo-style residences of archbishop-elector Clemens August. Day 14 Amsterdam. Today, cruise to the eclectic city of Amsterdam.
