Day 1

Fly to Budapest & Embark Your Ship On Arrival, you will be met and transferred to the port to embark your ship, where you will enjoy the full-board service during our cruise; your first meal on board will be dinner, served later this evening. During the night, you will depart upstream for Esztergom leaving Budapest behind.

Day 2

Esztergom, Hungary After breakfast, you will have some free time to explore Esztergom - provincial Hungary at its best. You have the opportunity to visit the beautiful Renaissance basilica, Hungary’s biggest church which boasts one of the world’s largest altars. You could also visit the castle or some of the beautiful baroque churches. Return to the ship for your first lunch on board as you continue on our journey towards Slovakia.

Bratislava, Slovakia Included: Guided Bratislava City Tour This morning we arrive in Slovakia’s capital city, Bratislava. Here you will have a guided tour of the city, seeing Bratislava Castle - the great 17th century fortress which affords wonderful views across the Danube - as well as the beautifully restored baroque old town. This afternoon you will continue your cruise into lower Austria, passing some fascinating locks on our way to Dürnstein. Durnstein - Melk Included: Guided Tour of Melk Abbey This morning you will have free time to explore this charming little town, famous for its amazing ice-blue baroque tower, which dominates the river, and for being the place where Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned after being shipwrecked on his return from the Crusades. Returning to the ship for lunch, you will cruise to your next stop - Melk Abbey. You will have a guided tour of the monastery, formerly a palace gifted to the Benedictine Order, and free time to explore the grounds at your leisure. During dinner, you will continue your cruise through the pretty Nibelungengau.

Linz - Salzburg Included: Guided Tour of Salzburg This morning you will arrive in Linz and transfer by coach to Salzburg, famed as the birthplace of Mozart and home to the beautiful Mirabell Gardens. A local guide will show you the highlights of this “baroque jewel” of a city, after which you are free to explore as you wish. A packed lunch will be provided today. You will return to the ship in time for dinner, served as you cruise towards Vienna.

Vienna, Austria Included: Guided Tour of Vienna & A Private Recital Onboard Today will be one of the highlights of your cruise, a full day in Vienna. You will have a sightseeing tour, first by coach and then on foot, allowing you to fully appreciate this beautiful city which, for the two hundred years leading up to the First World War, was the cultural centre of Europe. The city boasts a huge array of showpiece buildings, galleries, aristocratic palaces and baroque churches. During the afternoon, you will have free time to further explore this city. No trip to Vienna is complete without a live musical experience; the city was home to so many of the world’s most famous classical composers, Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart and Strauss to name but a few. This evening after dinner Riviera Travel have arranged for a private recital on board the ship for you to enjoy.


Day 7

Budapest, Hungary Included: Guided Budapest City Tour This morning you will continue your cruise back towards Budapest, arriving here during lunch. This afternoon you will have a guided sightseeing tour of the twin cities of Buda and Pest, followed by the opportunity to explore Castle Hill, with its churches, museums and squares, and see the impressive neo-gothic Parliament building. This evening you will enjoy a gala dinner onboard the ship.

Perhaps visit the workshop of a local wood carver and clock maker, or visit the open-air Museum of Vogtsbauernhof to see how life was lived in this area centuries ago.
