Small Ships Are So Much Better!!! This was our second cruise on Balmoral; as the old saying goes, there is nothing quite like your first time, but this was a close second. The difference I noticed most was that the itinerary on our first cruise (the Baltic) was better than this one - apart from that the good points from the cruise were every bit as enjoyable, and we have already booked our next Fred.Olsen cruise as a result.....

Excellent Taster Of Balmoral As usual the embarkation at Southampton was exceptionally good. Our car was dealt with swiftly and professionally and we had a very smooth check in experience at City Terminal. We could not fault the check in services and, as we had an early check in time, we boarded the ship within about 30 minutes of check in.

As part of a multi-million pound refurbishment programme, all four members of the Fred. Olsen ocean fleet have undergone a detailed refurbishment. These refurbishments have retained the timeless style for which Fred. Olsen is renowned for and added new services and features to the comfort and range of amenities on board.

All rooms have a more contemporary look and feel, thanks to the addition of new soft furnishings. Mini-fridges and interactive smart TVs are now a feature of every room, while guests in Balcony rooms will be able to soak-up sea views from the comfort of brand new balcony furniture.

Fred. Olsen believe in taking you closer to the destination, and this year they're taking exploration to the next level with their all new Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs). RIBs are the latest enhancement to their ocean fleet and will offer guests the opportunity to immerse themselves fully in the destination.
