The expeditions featured in this section have the same focus, the same mission—to defy the odds of wind, wave, weather, and wariness to find and observe wildlife. To revel in the complicated, yet ultimately simple, act of paying attention. To not simply see the wild creatures with whom we are privileged to share the planet, or to photograph them, or even to remember always that we did see them, but to know their world, learn something of their lives, and thus demonstrate our reverence for their sovereign otherness.
