NINE CENTURIES BEFORE the coming of the Redeemer, the fiery prophet Elias was consumed with zeal for the Lord God of hosts. Transported by angels in a fiery chariot, he was likely taken to the earthly paradise. From this privileged position, he monitors the developments within the history of salvation, their core being the struggle between good and evil, the children of light and the children of darkness, and those who follow God and those who give themselves over to the devil. The Prophet Elias, deemed as the founder of the Carmelite Order, plays a unique role in this battle that will last until the end of time.
