Some Important Crutch Tips For Those Who Are Using Them Getting around on crutches is not an easy thing to do. Sometimes life happens. Sometimes an accident poses this type of life lesson. Really it should be looked on as a life lesson. Using crutches will help a person see life from another point of view in the physical sense. Now if this is you, continue reading on. In this article I have included some pretty cools tips to help you out. These tips are good for those who are getting around on crutches for the very first time. These tips can also help those who are using them for the second or third time.

Let's get to it... FINDING YOUR FIT You need to find crutches that will fit you comfortably. If you do not have them fitted properly, you will wind up with callouses. The top of your crutches should be at least 1-2 inches from your armpits. This is when you stand up straight. What about the hand grips? These should be at the level of your wrist. Use them for a day. If they do not feel good after one day's use, then you need to get fitted for a different set.

WALKING YOUR WAY THROUGH LIFE This is the next suggestion when it comes to crutch tips. You need to walk using your good leg. Place your crutches 6-12 inches in front of your good leg. Always lean your weight into the crutches and use your good leg. Good as far as you can and take a rest. Pace yourself. It's important to note that you should never look down. Your body is going to follow your gaze. Always look forward, just like in life. If you look down, you will make things worse. THE CUSHIONED GRIP This is probably one of the more crucial crutch tips I can give you. Only invest in crutches with handle grips. Also, you should never use your armpits as your cushion. Your hands need to be your guide. You could end up

causing nerve damage if you do.

If this is becoming an issue, then invest in some sort of adhesive tape. You might also want to use gloves. There is no shame in this. The gloves are merely helping to protect you. OBSTACLES You are going to have obstacles. These obstacles can come in the form of uneven pathways and icy conditions. If you see something coming up, do what you can to avoid the situation. Puddles can also be an issue. Think about where you are walking. I only say this to help save you from further pain and suffering. Please think about these tips. If you need any more advice you can always ask the doctor who prescribes the crutches for you.
