Johan Cruyff Foundation Because active children move up
Johan Cruyff Foundation
Every child deserves a healthy future. The Johan Cruyff Foundation helps children in need to develop through sport and play. Being active helps children to grow and develop, keep them fit and healthy, and teach them to hold their own in a complex society. The Cruyff Foundation supports all children, both disabled and not disabled, and both in the cities and beyond them. The Cruyff Foundation is working towards a better and more sustainable society by launching projects for children with disabilities, building multifunctional sports pitches in cities Cruyff Courts, and creating sport-friendly school playgrounds - Schoolyard14. Because active children move up!

Cruyff Courts
Children need a safe space that encourages them to play outside. This is why we created Cruyff Courts: safe meeting points where children can make friends, discover their talents, and experience what it’s like to win and lose. These are valuable experiences that they carry with them as they develop, and as they move into society. Alongside the Cruyff Courts in the community, we set up Special Cruyff Courts at institutions for children with disabilities. These Cruyff Courts are adapted to the children’s needs. The Cruyff Courts and Special Cruyff Courts enable children to practice all kinds of sport and take part in activities that are supported by Cruyff Foundation Coaches. At the same time, the Heroes of the Cruyff Courts project ensures that young people play an active role in organising these activities and in their communities.

Sport and play are especially important for children with disabilities – not only in terms of their health, but also in terms of their social contact with others. By playing sport, children with a disability are able to learn what they can do and build their self-confidence. The Cruyff Foundation wants all children to be able to take part, including children with a disability. Through a variety of partnerships, we are working to increase the number of sports available to children with disabilities and to make these sports more accessible.

Schoolplein14
Johan once said that “playing outside should be a subject at school. So the Cruyff Foundation came up with a relatively simple way to make it one: Schoolyard14 encourages primary-school children to do sport and play together both during and after school. Working with the school and its pupils, we apply lines and coatings on the ground and walls to make the schoolyard a more appealing place for the children. Schoolyard14 is also suitable for children attending special education, as we can install an extra coating that caters to their disabilities.
