2 | SPRING 2018 RED BREEDS SIRE DIRECTORY
BREEDING FOR HEALTH AND EFFICIENCY WORKS WITH CRV GENETICS Breeding lays the basis for herd performance. By making the right breeding decisions and using the best bulls to breed the next generation of animals, dairy farmers create the ideal herd to work with on their farm. And thus, CRV is happy to see that the industry has embraced the use of genetics to improve the health of our dairy cows. CRV bulls have been selected for health for decades. In fact, it is one of our guiding principles. Breeding for a healthy herd reduces the costs relating to fertility and veterinary care and importantly, lightens the workload. The result is that today, thousands of CRV daughters globally contribute to Efficient & Healthy herds that farmers love to milk. In this spring Red Breed directory, we pay special attention to the MRY. This local Dutch breed of MRY are champions when it comes to Health and Efficiency. Known for their strength and
robustness, MRY cows have minimum veterinary costs and high productive life. Plus, being free of Holstein genes means that crossbreeding with MRY delivers optimal hybrid vigor. If you farm extensively and health and durability are important to you, the MRY may be a breed to consider. This spring CRV is proud to deliver our spring line up of MRY, Fleckvieh and Red Holstein who each raise the bar for CRVs values: healthier cows achieving higher lifetime production with a lower feed intake. That is what we stand for: CRV Better Cows | Better Life. We wish you a very healthy Spring season

CROSSBREEDING
MRY for crossbreeding:
Important for successful crossbreeding is the fact that
• Free of Holstein genes
MRY is free of Holstein genes, so more hybrid vigour
• Excellent fertility
can be expected. Currently, more than 20% of all MRY
• Healthy cows
inseminations in Holland are used for crossbreeding on
• Excellent body condition
Holstein cows. Farmers who need more strength and
• Long living cows
robustness, as well as farmers who operate on a more low
• High protein
cost, extensive system, should consider the MRY breed as an option for crossbreeding. Milk solids, fertility calving ease medium size, and durability are key words in many farming systems world-wide. MRY FIGURES 2016 No. of registered pure-bred MRY animals

Danielle 95 was the MRY-cow of the year in 2016 and she is also, in a heavy competition, elected as the most economic cow in the Netherlands. In 5 lactations she averages 9294 kg milk with 5.21 % fat and 4.05 % protein. Her cell count is low and she got pregnant in every lactation from the first insemination. Danielle 95 is classified Excellent 91, with 94 for udder and 93 for feet and legs.
