The Cruise Collection

It is little more than a year since the rebirth of Crystal, yet we have traveled far. I am proud of all that we have achieved in such a short time and excited about what is to come.

This is a significant year for Crystal, marking 35 years of our exceptional cruises. We will celebrate the occasion with anniversary sailings, the first of a new collection of voyages themed on a variety of subjects that we are creating. Our aim is to match your personal passions with your desire to explore the world.

I am delighted to reveal that one of the special guests joining one of our 35th anniversary cruises will be our good friend and associate Nobuyuki Matsuhisa. Chef Nobu has been such an important part of the Crystal journey. The opening of his restaurant Umi Uma® in 2003 was not only a gamechanger for the cruise industry, it also reflected the level of excellence we remain committed to delivering.

Indeed, as you will see when you turn the pages of this brochure, we are proud to announce the opening of another sensational dining experience, Beefbar, from the visionary restaurateur Riccardo Giraudi. Beyond the dining room, we have also unveiled the stunning new Le Casino de Monte-Carlo, a unique collaboration with one of the world leaders in entertainment and gaming, Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer. And we continue to roll out extraordinary onshore experiences with the help of our expert partner Abercrombie & Kent. We want you to delve deeper into the fascinating world you set sail with us to discover.

With almost 90% of our former staff having now returned and so many of you sailing again with us, Crystal is one big happy family once more. Just as in 1990, when the first Crystal ships took to the high seas, everything feels possible.

COMING HOME TO CRYSTAL

“I never get bored on a Crystal ship,” says Heather Schweiger, who together with her husband, Tommy, has clocked up 112 Crystal cruises to date yet still finds something new each time. “They’ve got everything,” she explains. “I love padel tennis, which I play every day. I love the art, I’ve made jewelry, I learned the keyboard... The difference with Crystal ships compared with others is that the entertainment is Broadway level – far superior to any other cruise line – and the lectures are excellent.”

Tommy agrees, citing “the crew and the facilities” as the reasons he loves to sail with Crystal. “There’s just so much to do,” he says.

Also key is the draw of being part of the Crystal family. “There’s a sense of family, of happiness and friendliness,” explains Tommy. “The new owner of the company is a very clever man – he got nearly 90% of the crew back, so they’ve preserved that sense of the Crystal family and the Crystal feeling. We know so many of the crew by name. They’re not staff, they’re our friends –we ’ve been friends for 20 years now.”

Heather sums it up: “We feel at home here.”

FOR

More top-name chefs and restaurateurs join Crystal’s culinary roster as our dining at sea becomes even more exceptional

Words: LAURA ARCHER

SUCCESS

SPEAKING from his home in Monaco, restaurateur

Riccardo Giraudi is visibly excited about the opening of the first ever Beefbar at sea onboard

Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity. “I’m very happy,” he says. “We’re also going to be on the new ships that are currently being built. It’s a real partnership – I’m married to Crystal now,” he laughs.

With this new venture, Giraudi is following in gilded footsteps – those made by Nobuyuki Matsuhisa, who opened the only Nobu on the ocean, then called Silk, with Crystal in 2003, a guest favorite to this day. “I have already four or five restaurants with Nobu in different hotels around the world, so I know it’s complementary,” Giraudi says of his decision to partner with Crystal. “It just made sense.”

This is all part of a trend for high-end restaurants to have a presence at sea – an innovation Crystal spearheaded

with Nobu and continues to drive forward. Hot on the heels of Beefbar is a collaboration with the Alajmo brothers, Raffaele (Raf) and Massimiliano (Max), who oversee a group of restaurants with four Michelin stars between them. Their flagship restaurant, Le Calandre in Rubano, is one of only eight in Italy to hold three Michelin stars – Max was just 28 when it won its coveted third star with him at the helm. The brothers will create exclusive dishes for Osteria d’Ovidio.

But while the appeal of having a big-name chef onboard is clear, what’s in it for the restaurant in question? “We were attracted to the challenge of taking our cuisine around the world, and organizing everything meticulously –from the selection of the ingredients to the way the dishes will be presented and served,” says Max.

“What we appreciate about Crystal is the pursuit of quality and the desire to create the highest and most varied

Opposite: ALAJMO BROTHERS, RAFFAELE AND MASSIMILIANO Above: RICCARDO GIRAUDI

offering possible for guests,” adds Raf. “There’s no chance to get bored; routine doesn’t exist. Every day can be different. It is like walking through a small town that has many restaurants.”

This is a sentiment shared by Giraudi. “A ship is like any big city. You have to have a mix of restaurants. And I think with the revamp of Crystal, they’ve understood that,” he says.

So, what can guests expect from these new offerings? Beefbar, which is taking over the space formerly occupied by Tastes, will be open for poolside lunches as well as a more elevated evening dining experience.

“Our lunch menu is more deli-style,” Giraudi explains. “People do not necessarily want to go for a four- or fivecourse lunch; they want to have one of the best burgers they can by the pool, and that’s as elevated as it gets. We’re doing a bigger range of pizzas, our famous sliders and a smash burger.”

He is also enthusiastic about his new range of beef cold cuts. “We are now doing very good marbling in beef. And when you start marbling beef, you can do more than steaks, such as ham. So we’re also going to have all the hams that I’m producing – the ribeye ham is amazing. We will use them to make a Ruben sandwich and things like that.”

Dinner, meanwhile, will be more like that at the landbased restaurants, although Giraudi is keen to stress the uniqueness. “With Beefbar, every restaurant is different; we do not photocopy the style. We keep the DNA on the menu, but we try to give a different experience depending on where the restaurant is situated. On Crystal, because it’s open for lunch and dinner, it’s more casual. I want diners to feel relaxed. It’s still elevated but they’re on holiday so you want them to feel great. Drink wine, have some steak – it’s simple.”

The Alajmo brothers feel the same. “I want guests to feel at home and relaxed while eating,” says Max. “Let’s put formality aside and focus on having fun,” adds Raf. Along with the new dishes created for Crystal, they will be serving the most popular items from their menu at Le Calandre. Their aim? “Osteria d’Ovidio will be an embassy for Italy in the middle of the sea. We want to meet the expectations of the guest on vacation who decides, ‘Tonight, I’m going to Italy’. Our success will be in making them feel and experience Italy at the table.”

It’s a concept to which Chef Nobu adheres. “In the restaurant business, the most important things are good food, good service, and good atmosphere,” he says. “Umi Uma is a mix of friendly and comfortable, with really good food and service. Because it’s on a cruise ship, it’s homier – you get to know the same customers every day. That means you get to make it more like a family.”

And with Beefbar and the Alajmo brothers, the Crystal family has just become bigger – and better. ✦

A WORLD OF OPPORTUNITY

With more exclusive A&K Land Experiences rolling out on Crystal itineraries over the coming year, we checked in with Geoffrey Kent, pictured, the founder of Abercrombie & Kent, to see what guests can expect.

What elements of the Abercrombie & Kent experience do you want to give to Crystal guests?

When I started A&K, I wanted to create journeys that were adventurous by day and luxurious by night. I wanted my guests to experience the thrill of adventure while also enjoying the comforts of home.

Many people refer to Crystal as a home away from home, so Crystal in the A&K family makes perfect sense. I want Crystal guests to experience the same level of service and attention to detail that A&K guests have come to expect. I also want them to have the opportunity to experience the world’s most amazing destinations in a way that is both luxurious and adventurous.

How do you see the A&K and Crystal partnership developing?

Both A&K and Crystal are committed to providing our guests with exceptional travel experiences. I believe that by working together, we can create even more amazing journeys for our guests.

How have you found the cruising experience with Crystal?

I’ve sailed a few times with Crystal, and I am incredibly impressed with it, particularly after the recent revitalization. The attention to detail throughout the ships is remarkable. They’ve managed to capture a classic sense of luxury while incorporating modern design elements.

When people are enjoying the comforts of the ship, it can be hard to persuade them to disembark – what would you say to encourage people to explore the destinations the ship visits? The shore excursions are an essential part of the Crystal cruising experience. They provide our guests with the opportunity to experience the destinations they visit in a more intimate way. Crystal shore excursions are designed to be both informative and enjoyable. They are led by experienced guides who are passionate about sharing their knowledge of the local culture and history.

What’s your favourite place to cruise to?

The Mediterranean holds a special place in my heart. Cruising its shores allows you to immerse yourself in the ancient civilizations of Greece and Rome, savor the culinary delights of Italy and France, and witness breathtaking landscapes from the Amalfi Coast to the British Isles. Looking ahead, I’m very excited about Crystal’s 2026 itineraries. The opportunity to explore East Africa, with its vibrant cultures and incredible wildlife safaris, is particularly appealing for Crystal guests. The chance to witness the cherry blossom season in Japan is another experience that I can’t recommend enough.

And finally, what’s the one thing you always pack?

A sense of adventure! ✦

Explore the diversity of the Americas, from beach resorts to foodie hotspots

Life’s a beach in San Diego, but we’ve places to go. First, we head over the border to Ensenada, Mexico, a culinary hub with a hinterland of wineries. Next, we spend a day sailing to the popular vacation resorts of Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta, before reaching Acajutla in El Salvador, where a coffee from one of the country’s famous plantations is a must. Nicaragua is next; our port, San Juan del Sur, is the gateway to some serious surfing. Costa Rica comes into view at Puntarenas, where there is seafood to dine on and nature to admire further inland. After a day at sea, we reach South America at Manta in Ecuador, renowned for its wickerwork, an obvious souvenir. Our final port is Guayaquil, gateway to the Galápagos Islands.

Sail along one of the world’s man-made wonders on this cruise

Relax into life onboard with two days at sea, crossing from South to Central America at Fuerte Amador for Panama City, where we spend two nights. That’s plenty of time to explore its streets, old and new, venture to its fringe of beaches and jungle – and, of course, buy a Panama hat. You could also take a closer look at the canal locks at Miraflores, through which gigantic vessels squeeze onto the canal. After our ship has slipped along the narrow channel built more than a century ago, we make for Cartagena, a beautiful UNESCO-listed city on the coast of Colombia. Then we cross the Caribbean to historic Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, the holiday playground of Punta Cana, and our final port, San Juan in Puerto Rico.

SAN DIEGO
JUAN CARIBBEAN,

From island life to urban buzz, this cruise is a world of contrasts

A sequence of small islands maps a charming route for us. First is Marigot, on the French-speaking side of Saint Martin, with its gingerbread-style houses, then the rainforest-clad island of Dominica beckons at Roseau. Buzzy Bridgetown delivers us to powder sands loved by celebrities before the twin volcanic cones, the Pitons, signal our approach to Saint Lucia. St John’s, Antigua, is next – don’t miss the preserved Georgian dockyard that tended Admiral Nelson’s ships. Time to beach-bar-hop in Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands; learn all about the Dominican Republic in the museum at Samana; and wiggle our toes in the white sands at Grand Turk on Turks and Caicos before two days take us to our final port, New York City.

Swap the skyscrapers of Manhattan for the sunny beaches of the Caribbean

Join this cruise and enjoy some time seeing the sights in New York City, with an overnight stay at the start of your journey. After wandering the streets and avenues of Manhattan, you’ll welcome a relaxing day at sea as we cross to the Bahamas. The Royal Naval Dockyard is our port of call – once a key strategic location for the British fleet, now it’s the historic setting for exciting entertainment venues and great restaurants. Two more days at sea transport us to another place steeped in history, Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, and you can find out more about the island in the museum at our next stop, Samana. But don’t miss the beaches. Our final port of call is San Juan, the lively capital of Puerto Rico.

ROUNDTRIP TOKYO

Take the close-up view, from city streets to sandy shores

Immerse yourself in Japan and dip your toe in South Korea on this spellbinding cruise. After embarking in Tokyo, our first port of call is Shimizu, where you will be captivated by the glorious view of Mount Fuji. Continuing west, we reach vibrant Osaka, for one of the country’s most famous castles and its renowned street food – try the local specialty, kushikatsu, deep-fried skewers of meat or vegetables. Then we turn southwest to the white sands of the Okinawa archipelago. After a sea day, we visit South Korea’s Jeju island and then turn east to the Japanese city Beppu, famous for its hot springs. Our final port of call is Kochi, with its Shogun castle, before we sail back to the capital, Tokyo.

Modern art and ancient ruins –there are two sides to this story

Journey from Japan to South Korea, departing Tokyo, for Hakodate, to see its star-shaped castle ruins, and then Aomori, renowned for its fish markets and modern art gallery. Turning south, we continue to Sakata, with its traditional architecture and historic rice warehouses, and Niigata, cradled by rice fields. Onwards we go, calling in at Kanazawa to admire the beautiful garden of Kenrokuen, and Maizuru, which puts the city of Kyoto within reach. Our next port of call is Sakaiminato, from where we leave Japan and cross the Korea Strait to Busan, much loved by Koreans for its setting and magnificent temple of Beomeo-sa. After a final relaxing day at sea, we disembark at Incheon near Seoul.

Lessons from history in the home of Madama Butterfly

Sail from South Korea to Japan, taking in two of the world’s most poignant cities. After embarking in Incheon near Seoul, we sail to Korea’s Jeju island before crossing the Korea Strait to Nagasaki, a place that bears the terrible scars of war but is also famous as the setting of the romantic opera Madama Butterfly. After a day at sea, we reach the turquoise waters of the Miyako islands and then continue to the Okinawa archipelago. Turning north, a day on the ocean brings us to Aburatsu with its stunning coastal scenery, and then Hiroshima, to see its Peace Museum and discover life here today. Next, we stop at Kobe, which is building a formidable reputation with foodies, before we head east to dynamic Tokyo, where we disembark.

Surprises and spectacles in one of the world’s wildest corners

Our voyage begins in Aomori, the seaside city on the northern tip of Japan’s Honsu island. Famous for its delicious apples and fresh seafood – try a selection of the latter with some rice, nokke-don, at the city’s Furukawa Fish Market. Next, we visit Kushiro, on the east coast of Hokkaido, close to wetlands beloved by birds, including the red-crown crane, a national symbol of happiness and long life. Now we have some serious relaxing to do onboard ship as we sail across the ocean – and the International Date Line – on a voyage bound for Alaska. Our first stop is Kodiak Island, a wilderness patrolled by bears, wolves and moose, then the fishing port of Homer. Finally we reach Seward, to hike to the fjords and dine on fresh halibut.
