Fabricating Metals Metal fabrication is the construction of a metal to convert it into a more usable form. Raw materials are fabricated and assembled in order to create a machine and other equipment. Fab shops are small business establishments that concentrate in metals. Fabrication shops focuses on preparation of metals, welding and assembling of raw materials. Steel detailers are employed by fabricator to create drawing for the clients that is needed for manufacturing. Raw materials usually consist of metal plate, welding wire, hardware, casting, tube stock, square stock, sectional metals and fittings. These raw materials are usually cut by a different range of tools. Shearing is the most common method to slice a material.
Cutting torches are designed to slice huge sections of steel. A burn table is a cutting torch that is usually powered by natural gas. Metal plate is put on the table and cut and produces a design that is usually pre-programmed. The table is usually made of a replaceable grid bars. Some other tables are too expensive because it includes variety of taps and punches. Robots are also usually use for cutting purposes. Band saw has feed mechanism and hardened blades to cut metals evenly. Abrasive cut-off saw uses abrasive disk, it is also known as chop saw. Wing brakes, hand powered brakes and a brake press that is hydraulic with a vdies are the techniques used in forming a metal. Tube machines with mandrels and shaped dies used to bend tubular section. To create metal plates into a round object, rolling machines are usually use. To create a complicated double twisting shapes using sheet metal, wheeling machine or English wheel is being use. Welding is the main heart of metal fabrication. This involves the assembling of the designed and formed machine parts. The welder will do the welding depends on the technical drawing of the designed object.
