Properties of Metal.

Properties of Metal Metal is an element that forms ionic bonds and cations with non-metals and a conductor of heat and electricity. It's properties may vary depending on it's chemical, physical, electrical and mechanical properties. The chemical property of the metal will depends on it chemical properties. They are commonly leads to form cations in the process of electron loss that reacts to oxygen to form oxides over a period of time. Transition metals usually oxidized longer than the other. Other elements like gold do not oxidize at all. Aluminum, titanium and stainless steel remain their great conductivity and shiny exterior for a long time due to the layers of oxides the blockage the oxygen from penetrating through the elements. Plating, anodizing and painting are the common method used to avoid the elements from corrosion.

Metals have a capability to malformed under different circumstance. Ductility is another property in which it allows this kind of object to deform. This property is very important in making tubes and wirings. Another very important property is the elasticity. This makes the metal go back into its original form when the load is detached. Malleability is also a property of metal. This kind of material that are malleable is can be rolled, hammered and can be pressed to form it into another shapes. The weight of the material is taken into consideration in generating a design plan when creating another piece of object. This property is called density. Alkaline metals are usually has less density, hardness and melting point and are very reactive type of metals. Osmium is considered as the densest solid while the lithium is considered as least dense. A compact crystal lattice is the responsible for making the it high in density. The electrical conductivity is due to ion charges. Fusibility is a property of metal which is defined as the capability of metals to turn into liquid by applying heat.
