Model airplanes can be damage in a number of ways, the majority of radio control model airplanes are damaged at home, in transit to or from the ground or by movers, and then there are those which crash on the field. Any damage can be repaired, whether the repair is worth doing is for the builder to decide himself. There are five things that factor together to make the decision:The following are the things to be considered in making the decision for repair: a) The total cost of the repai b) Will the aircraft be straight similar to the original one c) The total weight to be added during the repair d) The appearance of the plane after the repair e) The duration of the repair, compared to building a new one. Take time in evaluating the total damage. Do not make any haste decision instantly, take your time. Several people will throw away some parts of the crashed model, engines, servos and others. There are parts that which can be saved, specifically engine parts and servomechanisms. Regardless of the kind of repairs required to be done, there are plenty of things to be made: - Search the site of the crash cautiously and retrieve each piece of the model which you nay find. You can be able to use again the items even if they appear untidy. Prevent from breaking off the splinters that can help lock the pieces back in position. - Empty the fuel tank instantly - If the exterior of the model is covered up with oil and you found loose pieces from inside, keep them far from the greasy parts. - Take away the engine and also the duel tank to avoid soaking the fuel and oil in the model. - If dirt covers the engine, do not twist it over. Blow off more dirt as possible with use of compressed air or with the use of soft brush. - Attend in cleaning out the engine as much as possible, since raw fuel will cause the bearings to rust. - Check the inside of the airframe for raw gas - Remove parts while making the refurbishing like landing gear, push rods, radio switches and others. - Peel back enough covering to take at the damaged area. - Remove pieces which are entirely detached but any component that is still dangling on must be left in the place at first. Frequently a piece may be moved back in its accurate position and attached.
