The stages of checking a used excavator The main difference between buying a used excavator from a brand new one is the cost which most companies and buyers are concerned about. he main reason why most construction companies opt to buy a used one is to save money on the equipment used in the project since about 20-30% of the original amount can be saved by the company. Besides, most companies believe that when it comes to quality or working condition, a used excavator can still work perfectly. The only thing that matters with the quality is the kind of owner, the tasks that this equipment performed as well as its age. Being careful when buying a used excavator is the best way to save money and attain an efficient performance at the same time. When this happens, it would be like hitting two birds with one stone. Even though a used one is much cheaper than the brand new one, the amount of this used equipment still depends on the working condition of the equipment. However, the question here is how you can determine that the equipment is still in perfect working condition. There are some things to learn before looking for this used equipment. Narrowing down your choices based on brands or stores would be of great help. You have to remember that there are so many used products and equipment in the market these days and checking them all out would just take much time which will eventually cause delays in the project. After that has been settled, the buyer has to conduct the two kinds of inspection. The first is the visual physical check. This check up will include the inspection of all the parts of the equipment namely the engine, the cab, boom, stick and bucket. In this case, it is easy to know whether the cab, boom and bucket are in working condition but the engine needs more focus. When checking the engine, try to check if there’s soot in the engine. This soot came from the smoke of the engine and when there’s a lot in the engine, it simply means it needs overhauling. Buying that engine with that condition would only cost you more instead of saving. Also, check whether there’s any oil leakage that has been overlooked. The next stage to determine the quality of the used excavator is the performance check. By the name itself, it just means that as a buyer, you have the right to have a run test of the equipment. In this case, the buyer can either ask for the demonstration of the equipment first or you can bring an operator with you and ask the operator to do the run test and determine whether it is in perfect working condition or not. Once these stages have been cleared by the buyer, the buyer is not set to decide whether to buy the equipment or not.
