Known as a road grader or maintainer blade, a motor grader is a kind of construction equipment that is used to do particular tasks in different sites and plains. It has long blades which are used to flatten surfaces in the construction site. It is also used to maintain the dirt and gravel on the roads. When preparing for a base course in making wider flat surfaces, this equipment is also used especially for asphalt placement. As much as it can help flat surfaces, this grader is also utilized to set the soil foundation before any construction of a large building is done. It is not an undeniable fact that a motor grader has a lot of uses and it is one of the indispensable equipment of any kind. Thus, it is important to know how to take care of this equipment. Maximizing the life span of your equipment is very important in order to get your money’s worth because the price is not that low. As a worker, it is his responsibility to know how to operate it efficiently and know the operating techniques to maintain its quality. It is also important that he knows the type of application of the equipment he is working on. What are the things that he has to take care of? When working on a motor grader, the blades have to be maintained in that the sharpness of the edge should be good enough in order to perform well. The worker also has to remember that areas with more stones and rocks would need more skills and one mistake by the operator would cause a lot of accidents. To maintain the sharpness of the edge, the worker has to change the tip of the blade to the rear position and this can also improve the efficiency of the equipment in cutting and trimming. Otherwise, the trimming might be difficult and will take some time to finish the work. Doing otherwise too would shorten the life span of the blades. There are times that grading is done in very rough surfaces. This might be difficult for the operator and so, the operator has to focus on his work during this time. When working on it, it needs the full attention of the worker so that he can notice the areas that shouldn’t be worked on the by the grader. Grading along the curb and the gutter would usually ruin the blades of the grader. In order to still perform the task, the operator has to know how to switch to the right side guide of the moldboard from the left side.
