What is the Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF)?

Youth Opportunities Fund The YOF is an endowed fund of the Kiwanis Children’s Fund which provides grants to Key Club and Key Club members for scholarships and service opportunities. Application deadline: October 15th at 11:59 pm, EST.

What is the Key Club International (KCI) Major Emphasis?

“Children: Their Future, Our Focus.” While CNH KIWIN’S Key Club’s Major Emphasis is Live2Learn, Key Club International focuses on “Children: Their Future, Our Focus.” At Key Club International’s first convention in 1946, the organization was challenged to create a program to bring together every Key Club member to focus on making a global impact. That challenge resulted in the creation of the Major Emphasis Program (MEP): “Children: Their Future, Our Focus.” To fulfill the MEP, Key Club International serves children in many ways. By working with Key Club International’s preferred charities, Key Clubs serve children by aiding other organizations committed to serving children.

Who are Key Club International’s Preferred Charities?

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals) CMN Hospitals is a nonprofit organization that raises money to benefit hospitalized kids while increasing awareness of its member hospitals. Key Club participates with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals by sponsoring fundraising events or participating in service projects at the more than 170 children’s hospitals affiliated with CMN Hospitals.

March of Dimes Every day, 72 babies die due to preterm birth complications. All year long, YOU can make a difference for all babies. The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. Since 1978, Key Clubs have been making a difference for babies everywhere. Key Club members raise thousands of dollars annually through various programs, including collecting change, holding dances and taking part in March of Dimes’ signature event, March for Babies.

AUGUST EVENTS RECAP

Beach Palooza

August 10th | Muscle Beach | 11 am - 3:30 pm “This year was my first time going to a KIWIN’S Beach Palooza and I can definitely say that I wish I had come in the previous years. I had a lot of fun bonding with the members from my school, as well as my division. I really like how we had a scavenger hunt, which indirectly was a beach clean up, which is something I really enjoy doing. It was a great way for me to end my summer and start the new school year. It was the start of my new term and I was able to bring my members to experience another KIWIN’S event. Beach Palooza this year gave me a glimpse of the success we, as a division, will be experiencing during Fall Rally.” — Sarah Ruangkittikul, Bravo High School KIWIN’S President

AUGUST EVENTS RECAP

Culver City Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast August 24/25th | Veteran’s Park | 8 - 11 am

“I genuinely enjoyed attending this event! A few of the things we did in the beginning included: setting up the stand and decorating posters to advertise. Since we were there early, we got to eat some pancakes as well. My main task was to serve drinks to the people that bought something. A good thing was that all the profits we made went to charity! Overall, I really thought this was a cool event to take part in, due to being able to eat pancakes, meet new people, and go on some of the rides at the fair after the event was over.” — Trish Pham, Fairfax High School KIWIN’S Member
