Youth Opportunities Fund The YOF is an endowed fund of the Kiwanis Children’s Fund which provides grants to Key Club and Key Club members for scholarships and service opportunities. Application deadline: October 15th at 11:59 pm, EST.

What is the Key Club International (KCI) Major Emphasis?

“Children: Their Future, Our Focus.” While CNH KIWIN’S Key Club’s Major Emphasis is Live2Learn, Key Club International focuses on “Children: Their Future, Our Focus.” At Key Club International’s first convention in 1946, the organization was challenged to create a program to bring together every Key Club member to focus on making a global impact. That challenge resulted in the creation of the Major Emphasis Program (MEP): “Children: Their Future, Our Focus.” To fulfill the MEP, Key Club International serves children in many ways. By working with Key Club International’s preferred charities, Key Clubs serve children by aiding other organizations committed to serving children.

Who are Key Club International’s Preferred Charities?

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals) CMN Hospitals is a nonprofit organization that raises money to benefit hospitalized kids while increasing awareness of its member hospitals. Key Club participates with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals by sponsoring fundraising events or participating in service projects at the more than 170 children’s hospitals affiliated with CMN Hospitals.

March of Dimes Every day, 72 babies die due to preterm birth complications. All year long, YOU can make a difference for all babies. The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. Since 1978, Key Clubs have been making a difference for babies everywhere. Key Club members raise thousands of dollars annually through various programs, including collecting change, holding dances and taking part in March of Dimes’ signature event, March for Babies.

NOVEMBER EVENTS RECAP

November DCM & Spirit Sessions

November 9th & 17h | Pan Pacific Park “Fall Rally was a really great KIWIN’S experience! Meeting up with other KIWIN’S divisions showed us how far the KIWIN’S family reaches. Seeing other divisions, all just as spirited as us, created a really energetic and fun atmosphere. The icebreakers allowed me to learn about new people and hear about their experiences within KIWIN’S. The spirit sessions were competitive, but hearing other divisions be so spirited about their own spirit and fundraising and service only made me more pumped to try and win the spirit stick. Although we all came dressed in our different division colors, there was still a strong sense of community throughout the event and I knew that KIWIN’S is a thriving, energized group of individuals that strive to improve our own communities.” — Lily Lin, LACES HS KIWIN’S Member

NOVEMBER EVENTS RECAP Thanks to all of YOUR help, Crystal was able to: • Surpass our Fall Rally Attendance Goal! • Surpass our PTP Fundraising Goal! • Win the Attendance Stick! • Raise over $2,800! • Have over 103 attendees!

“Fall Rally was a fun and unique experience that is a must-go for all members. The most significant thing that I liked about it was that the event embodied the ohana spirit: people of all backgrounds and reasons for joining the club uniting on one day to not only raise money for the organization’s minor focus, PTP, but to also celebrate the time and effort the members have put into KIWIN’S. As a senior, this past Fall Rally was my last, however, given the chance, I would totally go again because not only do you get together with people that you know from other schools or divisions, but you also encounter new faces with whom you can make fun memories, and I don’t think it would be an understatement to say that it is one of the highlights of my year. My advice for any new members, or anyone hesitating to come out to Fally Rally or to other KIWIN’S events, is to go. These huge occasions only happen once a year, and you’re only in high school for four, so go!” — Aian Datingaling, Palisades Charter High School KIWIN’S Member “Fall Rally was definitely something that I would want to take part in again. I enjoyed the activities that we did for Fall Rally, especially the ice breakers and Penny Wars. I liked the cheers that we chanted and the ones that the other divisions did as well. I thought that all the people I met during Fall Rally were really nice and easy to talk to, even if we were in different divisions. During Fall Rally, I really enjoyed spending time with and getting to know everyone at the event. I enjoyed how everyone was just having a good time and how much energy everyone had. I really enjoyed Fall Rally and would want to do the event again if I could!” — Jasmine Najera, Francisco Bravo Medical Magnet High School KIWIN’S Member
