Crystal Palace √ liverpool sun 2 mar 2025 | 2:00pm kick-off
A warm welcome to the VBS Community Stadium, as we face Women’s Super League heavy-hitters Liverpool in Sutton, kicking off at 14:00 GMT!
The Eagles were unfortunate to fall to defeat away to Manchester United last time out, competing well until the latter stages of the game, and will be hoping to take that same fighting spirit into this afternoon’s match against the red side of Merseyside.
Palace will therefore need every voice backing them, so make sure you get down to Sutton to support the team and – for those arriving early – to experience our Fanzone, situated just beyond the Collingwood Road Stand at the far side of the stadium.
Opening an hour before kick-off, the Fanzone will feature face painters, Pete and Alice the Eagle, and lots more fun, games, activities, refreshments and music – the perfect way for the whole family to warmup ahead of kick-off!
Then, as the action draws near, get behind the team – and be loud, be proud… be Palace!

It was announced on Thursday that Matt Beard had left his role as Liverpool boss, bringing an end to his near-four-year stint in a second spell at the club. Amber Whiteley has stepped up as interim manager – her second spell as interim boss, after previously taking charge of the club from January until the end of the season in 2021 following Vicky Jepson’s departure.
Liverpool have had an impressive run in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup this season, reaching the quarterfinal stage. This run included a 5-0 demolition of West Ham away from home in the fourth round. With their sights set on silverware this season, the Reds will be eager to build on their momentum and reach their first-ever final in the competition.
In a historic move, Liverpool Women relocated to the club’s iconic Melwood training ground in 2023, marking a major step forward for the team. The state-of-the-art facility, once home to Liverpool’s men’s team, provides the squad with top-tier resources and reinforces the club’s commitment to growing the women’s game.
Founded in 1989 as Newton Ladies, Liverpool Women became part of the club in 1994 and have since played a major role in shaping the women’s game. Their 2013 and 2014 WSL titles marked them as early trailblazers, and their return to the top-flight in 2022 has seen them reestablish their place among England’s elite.
Olivia Smith has been one of the breakout stars of the WSL season. The 20-year-old Canada international has bagged four goals in 13 appearances so far, with her goal against Manchester City making her the first women’s player to ever score for Liverpool at Anfield. The summer signing from Sporting CP has taken the league by storm and will prove to be a handful for Palace’s defence today.
“We have been doing well of late, so this was very frustrating. But we know these top sides can punish you and they took their opportunities.”
M. Beard
