An exceptionally gifted vocalist, Jane Monheit’s romantic interpretations of exceptional songs have made her a favorite of the jazz and cabaret worlds. The End is a darkly funny account of the last days of an old man’s life as he struggles to live despite his willingness to die. It is one of Beckett’s most complete, compelling works and is a perfect introduction to the humor and humanity characteristic of Beckett’s work. Moby Dick - Herman Melville Considered one of the Great American novels, Moby Dick is a work of immense detail, charismatic characters, and the collision of human passions. This adaptation allows audiences to hear the beauty and wealth of Melville’s language while the mood is set by hardanger fiddler Caoimhin O’Raghallaigh.

One of the most celebrated and influential poets in contemporary literature, Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney will present an evening of readings and commentary of his work. Robert Lowell deemed Heaney “the most important Irish poet since Yeats” and Heaney’s list of honors and awards affirms that praise. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1995; his 2006 anthology of poetry, District and Circle, won Britain’s prestigious T.S. Eliot Prize and was named as one of the “100 Best Books of the Decade” by The Times (London). Pianist Christopher O’Riley has redefined the possibilities of classical music. He is an enthusiastic advocate for new music and young musicians. As the host of the popular National Public Radio program, From the Top, O’Riley works and performs with the next generation of talented musicians. Now he partners with the CSB/SJU Orchestra to perform Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor. Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder The Treasure Chest Tour

Pastiche

Bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs and his band Kentucky Thunder return to the Escher Auditorium for the Treasure Chest Tour. This concert will feature a mix of Skaggs’ classic country hits as well as a collection of his famous bluegrass tunes. A 14-time Grammy Award winner, Skaggs has often said he is “just trying to make a living” playing music that he loves – that love has led him on a musical journey resulting in numerous mainstream and genre-bending favorites that audiences have embraced for more than five decades.

Pastiche will present its traditional Family Weekend Concert, featuring an eclectic mix of traditional and new repertoire.

It seems like any other Christmas season for one typical American family, with its mix of charity and selfishness. All that changes when some of the world’s traditional Christmas characters, Saint Nickolas, the Holy Family, and the Kinder Christ, unexpectedly show up and teach us all about the true meaning of Christmas.

Intergalactic Nemesis Live Action Graphic Novel The year is 1933. Pulitzer-winning reporter Molly Sloan, her intrepid assistant Timmy Mendez, and a mysterious librarian named Ben Wilcott face the most serious threat Earth has ever known: an impending invasion of sludge monsters from the planet Zygon. This show is a sci-fi-horror-suspense-comedy-romance graphic novel presented in a whole new format: three actors, one Foley artist, and one keyboardist perform all the voices, sound effects and music, while more than 1,000 hand-drawn, full-color, hi-rez, blow-your-mind comic book images blast from an on-stage screen, all performed LIVE. Natalie MacMaster Christmas in Cape Breton

The holidays are not complete without The Nutcracker! Filled with awe-inspiring spectacle, this beloved ballet tells the story of Clara and her Nutcracker Prince as they embark on a thrilling adventure. Journey with Clara to the Land of Sweets, dance with the snowflakes in Central Park, and fight the menacing Mouse King. This production is set in turnof-the-20th-century Manhattan and features remarkable dancing, dazzling costumes and larger-than-life staging. In her Christmas show, fiddler Natalie MacMaster invokes the holiday traditions of her native Cape Breton. With a sound born in Scotland and nurtured in Nova Scotia, MacMaster’s performances of Celtic melodies and Christmas carols feature foot-tapping rave-ups and world-class step dancing, all delivered with an infectious energy felt by the musicians and audience alike.

Blair Thomas The Hard Headed Heart Chicago’s most acclaimed puppet master, Blair Thomas, presents a trio of interconnected solo shows – The Puppet Show of Don Cristobal, St. James Infirmary and The Blackbird. A one-man band, Thomas uses traditional hand puppets, shadow puppets on lamplit paper scrolls and marionettes to tell tales of darkly romantic, at times bawdy, adult themes of courtship, love and grief. The performances are based on the writings of Federico Garcia Lorca and Wallace Stevens as well as a traditional New Orleans blues song. Note: this show contains adult themes. From the classic, endearing stories of A.A. Milne comes this magical production of Winnie-the-Pooh. Peter slips away on a musical adventure to the paradise carrot patch – along the way, he gets a taste of life and the perils of trespassing, with the farmer hot on his tail! Introducing the latest and greatest in the grand tradition of crime-solving detectives. This pint-size young detective has found lost balloons, books, slippers, chickens and even a lost goldfish. But when his neighbor Annie asks for help in locating her missing painting, it takes all of Nate’s derring-do to solve the toughtest case of his career! This new musical about teamwork and friendship is based on the book by Majorie Weinman Sharmat.

One of William Shakespeare’s most hilarious and enchanting works comes to the stage in a production created especially for students. Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a whimsical story of love, mischief, matchmaking and magic as four young lovers enter the woods on a midsummer’s night and get caught up in a lover’s quarrel between the king and queen of faeries.
