MERGING WALL AND CELING IN ORDER TO CREATE A NEW ARCHITYPES TO RESPOND SIMULTANELY TO DIFFERENT ENVIROMENTAL NEEDS. SHAPE RESPONDS TO 360° NATURE COMPLEXITY.
MERGING
A single shape can perform all the functions. The natural enviroment and the human needs are merged in a shape
FEELINGS
Material and structure are the same of the typical of he seaside. The project aims to evoke the maritime feelings
The aim of the project is to improve a pedestrian pier. This pier is very popular due to its location, people come from all around in every season because there is a amazing view of the sunrise at east, and of the sunset in the other side. The goal is to create something that enhances this aspect and also is a shelter from the rain and from the wind as well as shade in summer. In order to create a unique shape that fuse all the elements, a series of stretched sails twist from westside to eastside through 180 degree become a canopy in the middle .
To respect the nature of the place the project aims to remind to visitors the swelled sails of a boat in the middle of the see. In a way the visitors will be transported emotionally to anather atmosphere. To create something that belongs to this place the structural solution is based on the ship sails technology, which use a catenary structure of steel tension cables supported by a steel pipe grid. This solution allows to have at the same time a very light design and a strong structure.
The translucent nature of the fabric material allows to the pavilion to merge itself in the colour of the environment becoming uniform part of the panorama. In order to give to the people the possibility to enjoy the relaxing moment that they are been looking for being there two set of steps are lifted from the ground. These sits can host different kind of activities during all the year long.

An important italian fashion company wants to create a space for catwalks in its first office. The client asked for a very felexible space that could be able to change and being used for exposition of their projects and products or for catwalks. The request is for a new building that extends the historical office. The place is a classical red brick villa in Tuscany surrounded by hills, trees and green. The aim of the project is to relate the new building with the existing, using the villa as a starting point to create a new typology of architecture that it merges itself with the
surrounding buildings but, at the same time, to be very iconic to reflect the quality of the company. From the shape of the existing building, the new volume starts and it finishes with the same shape but upside down. The resulting shape has a counter-pitched-roof that allows to create a double staircase that can be used as a seats for audience during the events and catwalks or as a platform to show the products. The connection between the starting and finishing section is made by a smooth curve in order to create a gentle angle
that allow to have a walkable tribune that grows according to the regulation. The corten steel panels provide to integrate the new shape into the environment. The colour of the building is the echo of the pre-existence but at the same time, the different nature between bricks and corten differentiating the two entities. As bricks have done for centuries the corten panels will change during the years continuing the historical process of the site and the architecture. A new form of vernachularism has been created.

VERNACULARIZATION
All the rooms take the typical sourrounding shape of the itched rooms that domains in the whole city.
In a Swiss valley, the municipality asks for a new museum able to attract people from all around. The shape takes the design from a polar array of a block, shaped like a pitched roof house, that creates a courtyard building. Thanks to this kind of arrangement all the functions are arranged around a circular path that allows to have a continuous way to enjoy the museum, thus entrance and exit coincide. The pitched roof shape of each block is designed to integrate the mass of the museum in the context, made of
detached country houses, also the material of the facade, corten steel, evokes the color of the surroundings. Furthermore all the functions are located in order to have a correct sunlight, indirect for the galleries and direct for the hall and the public functions where people stay. All the galleries are located from the North-East to North-West in order to control the temperature inside them to preserve the integrity of the artistic installations. The second block follows the main street direction creating a V shape building.
DEFORMIND IN 3D THE CLASSICAL COURTYARD ARCHETYPE THIS NEW TYPOLOGY KEEP THE QUALITY OF THE PREVIOUS ADDING MORE. 3D COURTYARD IS THE DARWINIAN EVOLUTION OF THE SPECIES.
COURTYARD
Connecting the two primary elements the building became a courtyard building like all the others arround.
LIFT UP
The brunch on the main street is lifted up in order to create a 3d courtyard and a covered drop off area..
The building is located in a strategic location. All the surrounding buildings basicaly have a courtyard scheme and they are the extrusion of their site. The general construction rules allow only this kind of situation so the aim of the project was to find out a solution, made on this scheme, that was 2.0 in terms of sustainability. The building goal is to find out an evolutionary offspring of the courtyard building. The new courtyard building is designed lifting up one side in order to create a cantilevered volume that allows to have
a main entrance and a covered dropoff area. Instead to have a private couryard this solution allows to enjoy the “inner space with the city creating a new plaza for events. Lifting up the volumes allows to the building to get more sunlight during the winter time in which light time is very short. In this way a typical self-referential architecture scheme starts to talk with the context offering its most important character to the citizens. The building has two different natures. This is reflected on the materialization of the facade.
The building is divided in floors but the facade in front follow a smooth curve in order to do not breack the surrounding look like. The outer facade is made by milky glass in order to distribute omogenusly the light inside.

GLASS
The new shape allows to common area to have direct light from the South and diffuse and indirect illumination in the galleries part.
The museum have a multi purpose program which comprises private expositions and public area. The project takes into consideration the quality and the light’s needs of the different functions, so, thanks to his shape, all the galleries have an indirect illumination that comes from the North or zenital. At the same time the living spaces as the hall, the bar and the free lobby are exposed to the South and so they receive a warm light during all the year. The museum is located at the center of the site to isolate himself from the noise of the streets and also a green park is planned in
the South side where the noise is stronger as a natural frontier. The concrete ribbon facade allows to have some interiors spaces totally without natural light for the multimedia rooms and the projections room. The exterior space is setted up to have a large square in front of the main hall and a path that invites pedestrians to come at museum walking through the park. So, the light, warm or cold, direct or not, become part of the museum such as the art inside. The large indows gives to visitors a spectacular view towards the surrounding.
The cross section of the building move from the classical rectangular shape on the sides to a triangular one in the center. This simple principle guarantees the twist of the building without affeceting hardly the structure.

GRADIENTOWER How the facade position can generate different quality spaces?
EXTRUSION
The tower is located within a new masterplan of towers surrounded by generic housing blocks.
PROGRAMME
The program is mainly divided in 2: offices and houses.
THE FACADE SET BACK GUARANTEE TO USER AND INHABITANTS TO STAY IN A SPACE DEFINED FOR THEM AND THEIR DAILY LIFE . PRAGMATIC APPROCH GIVES TO MODERNISM A VERNACULAR IDENTITY.
TAPER
The lower part of the tower facade, where the houses are, is set backed in order to guarantee and outdoor space.
GRADIENT
Copying all the way up the movement of facade generate a dynamic building that move from house program to office one, from terraces to curtain wall.
The Shenzhen’s municipality decide to implement a lowrise area with a new Masterplan of towers. This area is surrounded by mid-rise residential towers. Within the Masterplan the eastern area is destined for office towers whereas the western one is for mixed use buildings. The idea is to create a functional-stuck tower with houses on the lower part responding to the height of the surrounding buildings and on the higher offices according to the planned ones. Since the modernist time the architectural market is asking
for galzed towers all around the World, but this is not sustainable anymore so we decided to do not skip the market demand but to find a way to be vernacular and green. To emphasize the quality of both spaces the glass of the building moves. It is sent back for the houses in order to create deep balconies all around the apartments that provide shades during the hot summer and a lovely outdoor space in the other periods of the year, a real extension of the indoor.
In the office part the glass is offsetted out in order to create a double-layered ventilated facade that provide a better thermal insulation. This also allows to have a better control of the quality of the light into the building.
