The National Reentry Resource Center }
The NRRC is a project of the CSG Justice Center and is supported by the Bureau of Justice Assistance.

NRRC staff have worked with nearly 600 SCA grantees, including 40 state corrections agencies.

The NRRC provides individualized, intensive, and targeted technical assistance training and distance learning to support SCA grantees.

Bureau of Justice Assistance }
Mission: to provide leadership and services in grant administration and criminal justice policy development to support local, state, and tribal justice strategies to achieve safer communities.

Purpose of the Smart Supervision Program (SSP) The SSP supports the development and implementation of evidence-based probation and parole programs that effectively address the needs of offenders, improve supervision success rates, and reduce recidivism.

Project Timeline Grant funding is for a 36-month project period. Establish an Action Plan All grantees will be awarded $150,000 to establish an action plan within 180 days of receiving final approval of the project’s budget from OCFO.
Implementation Remaining project funds will be released after BJA approves the action plan.

SSP Goals, Objectives, and Deliverables }
Improve supervision strategies to reduce recidivism and provide training, technical assistance, and policy support.
}
Promote and increase collaboration among agencies and officials who impact community corrections.
}
Develop and implement strategies for the identification, supervision, and treatment of “high risk/high needs” supervisees to serve as a model for other agencies.

Enroll uninsured supervisees into Medicaid, or other insurance through health exchanges, and connect them to treatment providers.

Objectively assess and/or evaluate the impact of innovative and evidenced-based supervision and treatment strategies.

Mandatory Project Components }
Demonstrate agency commitment to the proposed initiative.

Clearly demonstrate the appropriate use and integration of evidence-based principles (e.g., assessment of risk and needs).

Evaluation } }
Document baseline recidivism rate based on historical data. Incorporate a research partner to assist with a) data collection and analysis, b) problem assessment, c) strategy development, or d) monitoring and evaluation performance.
