MEMPHIS SHELBY CRIME COMMISSION Job Posting President and Executive Director – Memphis Shelby Crime Commission Salary Range: $125,000 to $175,000; commensurate with experience. The Memphis Shelby Crime Commission is seeking an extraordinary leader to spearhead the development and implementation of a city- and county-wide Five Year Plan -- Operation: Safe Community III -- to reduce crime and make Memphis/Shelby County one of the safest communities of its size in the nation. The Memphis Shelby Crime Commission is a private, nonprofit 501c3 organization with a 50 member board of directors that serves as the leadership table for reducing crime in Memphis and Shelby County. The board is comprised of top leaders in law enforcement, criminal justice, business, government, and also includes faith and nonprofit leaders. We are seeking a “can-do” thought leader, a results-oriented collaborator and a problem-solver with a knack for getting things done. This individual will have primary responsibility for the development of a strategic plan to make Memphis/Shelby County one of the safest communities of its size in the nation, for galvanizing diverse leaders in the implementation and support of this plan, and for project managing the hard work of bringing initiatives to life and to scale. Qualifications: The ideal candidate will bring the following to the position:
Familiarity with Memphis area crime statistics and criminal justice system Ability to provide thought leadership to the community dialogue on reducing crime Proven ability to partner with local government, corporate, nonprofit, and faith-based entities Outstanding and demonstrated collaboration and facilitation skills Outstanding and demonstrated project management skills, ideally with multiple key stakeholders Proven ability to speak with confidence and authority in communicating ideas and outlining plans, and to issue a “Call to Action” Proven expertise in public speaking and positive relations with the press Bachelor’s Degree or higher 7+ years of operations management and senior level leader experience
