The Second Chance Act Reentry Program for Adult Offenders with Co-‐occurring Substance Abuse and Mental Health Disorders
RNR Simulation Tool Pilot Site Application As part of your technical assistance with the CSG Justice Center, you have an opportunity to work with the CSG Justice Center and the Center for Advancing Correctional Excellence (ACE!) at George Mason University to implement the RNR Simulation Tool. “The RNR Simulation Tool is designed to assist agencies in determining what forms of programming will be most effective in reducing recidivism and improving outcomes within their population.”1 It is a decision-‐support tool for corrections and treatment providers to help reduce risk and increase responsivity to the needs of the justice-‐involved individuals. There will be a total of four grantees selected to be part of this opportunity. Two will be distance-‐ learning pilot sites and two will be on-‐site pilot sites. All four sites will receive similar training. The distance-‐learning sites will receive the training and technical assistance remotely (e.g., interactive webinars and phone calls) and the on-‐site pilot sites will receive in-‐person training. If selected to be an RNR Simulation Tool Pilot Site the grantee will work closely with the CSG Justice Center TA Provider and ACE! to implement the RNR Program Tool for Adults and the Assess an Individual. Both tools are designed to facilitate better information about your efforts. The Program Tool gives a feedback on use of evidence-‐based practices and common implementation issues for the target population for the program. The Assess the Individual augments your needs assessment with an identification of main strengths of the individual and main target needs which other users of the tool have found that this support tool helps them identify unmet client needs. This is an opportunity for intensive technical assistance, which will require commitment and a time investment by the selected pilot site grantees. Intensive training on the RNR Simulation Tool will be provided by the CSG Justice Center and ACE! to enable the pilot site grantees to implement the RNR Program Tool for Adults and the Assess an Individual. There will be free access to the RNR Simulation Tool provided to the pilot site grantees. An adapted Planning & Implementation Guide has been 1
