One World Ruler
Psalms 47
A Poetic Reading of Psalms 47
JPS
1 (47-2) Let the nations arise with joy in a standing ovation! Applaud and exclaim your joy for the God of Israel! Arise with spirit songs which come out of the deep root of your heart. God has triumphed for the sake of His world!
2 (47-3) The Name, the One worshipped by Israel, is the Most High. He alone is the wellspring of joy. He is magnificent and awesome, glorious and great, the one Ruler over the world! There is no king but Israel’s God. 3 (47-4) He commanded and the waves of the world were calmed. He subdued the nations; they were silent and listened in joy to the Torah of the Jews. He has made all nations to be the glad disciples of His people Israel.
For the Leader; a Psalm for the sons of Korah. (47-2) O clap your hands, all ye peoples; shout unto God with the voice of triumph. 1
(47-1)
For the LORD is most high, awful; a great King over all the earth. 2
(47-3)
He subdues peoples under us, and nations under our feet. 3
(47-4)
He chooses our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob whom He loveth. Selah
4 (47-5) He is the great matchmaker, the God of joy. He chose for Zion, His daughter, the true Man of Humility and Anointed him with the oil of kindness as her savior. He made Zion’s Messiah, with his eternal Temple and all his wealth, to be her inheritance. This is the pride of Jacob, whom He loves. Contemplate this with peace.

5 (47-6) The God of Israel ascended with a horn’s blast far above the earth and heaven! The Great Name, the One worshipped with fear and joy in Israel, ascended to His throne with the sound of a shofar.
5
(47-5)
God is gone up amidst shouting, the LORD amidst the sound of the horn. (47-6)
6 (47-7) Sing every soul of earth, sea and sky, joyfully and soulfully sing! Sing with harmonies of praise for Israel’s King. Declare His praises in endless verses of love’s most splendid song! 7 (47-8) For the God of Israel is the One Ruler of all the earth. Let all the peoples have one psalm of joy to confess as one the word of Israel’s God. 8 (47-9) The One God, who is known in Israel alone is now revealed to be the Ruler over the nations. God judges from his throne, removing wrong doing form the earth, establishing righteousness through mercy, giving birth to eternal joy. 9 (47-10) The leaders of the peoples assemble as adopted sons and daughters. Together in joy they sit with the chosen people of the God of Abraham. For the Guardians of the earth belong to God. He is alone on high.
