Welcome
| Dean, College of the Arts
I’d like to extend a warm welcome to all of you joining us for Deck the Hall at Cal State Fullerton!, now celebrating its twelfth year of holiday cheer. Incredibly, more than 1,800 guests will visit this beautiful hall to kick off the holidays with friends and family. We are so happy to have you here.
This season, Deck is not the only College of the Arts spectacular. Our Visual Arts complex is currently undergoing a large-scale renovation right outside these doors! When completed in 2024, the site will be home to two new multi-level buildings filled with galleries, high-tech classrooms, and project spaces that will impact how we teach, learn, engage with, and share the arts on our campus. Learn more at arts.fullerton.edu/va-mod
While the Visual Arts complex will take time to build, preparation for the multi-ensemble achievement of musicianship that is Deck begins and ends each fall semester (well before anyone is “dreaming of a white Christmas”). After hours of rehearsal and numerous preparations by School of Music students, faculty, and staff, this memorable event unfolds before us like the perfect musical gift – a seemingly effortless performance presented with the utmost skill.
This level of accomplishment is a hallmark of the School of Music, where academics and artistry bond a tight-knit community of fearless, accomplished musicians and educators. As music students graduate and enter the workforce, the same Titan spirit that fueled their academic excellence sparks greatness in the next generation of would-be Titans. You can ensure this spark continues to inspire student success by donating a gift of any amount to the School of Music today at give.fullerton.edu/music, or by scanning the QR code below.
I’d also like to take a moment recognize one of the College of the Arts’ most dedicated support groups: Music Associates. For more than 50 years, their scholarship funds have enabled School of Music students to continue developing the technical and artistic skills necessary for today’s careers in music. Thank you for your impassioned philanthropy on behalf of our students.
We are so proud to present this concert to all of you, one that has become a tradition on campus and in our community. Thank you for joining us this evening and throughout the performance season. I wish you and yours a very happy holidays and peace and cheer in the new year.
Be Well,
Arnold Holland, EdD Dean, College of the Arts
