Trustee’s AGM Report 2015 - 16


Cycling UK – 1 year on Getting the UK cycling… • Our strategy sets out main aims: • Open to All by enabling more people from a diverse range of backgrounds to enjoy cycling. • Campaigns - new models achieving more change, more quickly. • A more active and more diverse Volunteer force. • Communications- we want the cycling public and potential funders to know who Cycling UK is, what we stand for, what we achieve and what we can do for them. • Cycling UK aims to have a sustainable Funding model capable of supporting its ambitions.


2016-17- Getting the UK cycling… Being Open to all • 70 new Community groups - 16,000 new cyclists, - 117 new ride leaders, - 169 new volunteers • Big Bike revival in Scotland and England • Diversity of Community projects – 800 groups


2016-17- Getting the UK cycling… Being Open to all • National Bike Week • Women's Cycling forum Scotland • Inclusive cycling projects – making cycling accessible to those with physical and mental health issues • Play on Pedals – 6000 schools kids on bikes

2016-17- Getting the UK cycling… Effective Campaigns • Successfully persuaded the UK Government to make a legal commitment to adopt a Cycling and Walking Investment Strategy • Partnership working and lobbying for real ‘long term’ funding


2016-17- Getting the UK cycling… Effective Campaigns • New Off-Road campaign to reach 12 million cyclists leisure cyclists • Replicate our legacy in Right to Roam in Scotland • Only 21 percent of the UK network is legally accessible • 9,000+ respondents to our Off-road survey - 82% of respondents say that they didn’t think that the current rights of way work for cyclists • 34 million acres of CROW land could be opened up


2016-17- Getting the UK cycling‌ Supporting volunteers - 15 Space for Cycling Workshops for regional campaign groups - 1,000 local group ride leaders trained - Marketing toolkit for local touring groups - 2nd Members conference - 350 volunteers trained & mentored

First mat out with North Yorkshire Police- first operation Tuesday 16th May


Last 6 months– making cycling safer… Rides of Way off road report – first ‘state of the nation’– 11,000 respondents
