Ex pedi ti on M odul e – Cours e Book i ng Requi rem ents Introducti on The Mountain Bike Expedition Module extends the remit of Mountain Bike Trail Leaders/Technical Leaders or higher, or Tour Leaders, to lead multi-day camping rides. Our course teaches how to prepare for expeditions, anticipate and minimise safety issues and how to provide fun and engaging overnight trips. Duration: 2 days/16 hours including overnight camp. Time: 12pm Day 1 to 12pm Day 2.
Number of Participants: Minimum – 6. Maximum – 8. Cost: £278 per person. £1754 per group of 8 participants. Booking: Please provide a minimum of 3 dates to allow allocation of tutor. Cycling UK will forward a booking form to confirm dates, cost and venue requirements. Participants will receive more details upon course sign up. Pre-Requisite Qualifications & Experience • • • • • •
Level 1-3 mountain bike leader qualification. Cycling UK Trail Leader, Technical Leader or Tour Leader all qualify a person to attend the award. Valid 16 hour Outdoor First Aid certificate At least 1 years’ experience of regular riding in easy, off-road terrain. Logbook evidence for a minimum of 10 recent rides in at least 2 different areas. Logbook evidence of 10 overnight camps (10 nights), preferably to include wild country, with or without bike. Minimum age 18
It is also preferable for an individual: • •
To have ridden in inclement weather. Have assisted in at least 2 group camps.
First Aid Certificate: All participants must hold a valid 16 hour outdoor first aid certificate. Certification will be withheld until proof of first aid qualification is received. Participants may email a scanned copy of their certificate to Training@CyclingUK.Org Venue and Resource Requirements The Course Organiser is responsible for booking the venue. Note: Consideration should be given to set up and tidy up times when booking venues (30 mins either side).
Catering A kitchen/cafe facility is preferable for classroom sessions; however, participants will be advised to bring a packed lunch. Tutor to provide tea, coffee and other refreshments, as required. Participants will require suitable food and refreshments for overnight camp.
