What is the cost of not finishing on time? If you take 15 credits each semester, you’ll graduate on time. One additional year of college will cost you, on average, $50,000 in tuition, lost wages and other costs. Committing to 15 to Finish will save you time and money. ucdenver.edu/15toFinish



FINANCIAL AID AND SCHOLARSHIPS To be eligible for federal student loans and grants, students and their families must submit a FAFSA – Free Application for Federal Student Aid at studentaid.gov. Visit: ucdenver.academicworks.com. • Public Service Loan Forgiveness: If you are employed by a government or not-for-profit organization, you may be able to receive loan forgiveness under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. • Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program: If you teach full-time for five complete and consecutive academic years in a low-income school or educational service agency, and meet other qualifications, you may be eligible for forgiveness of up to $17,500 on your Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans and your Subsidized and Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loans. • TEACH Grant – up to $4000 per year for those seeking licensure in high-need areas.

ACADEMICS Teacher Education Our teacher education program prepares you to be classroom ready. Most of our students have jobs before they graduate!

NxtGEN: Paid internship program in partner schools

• Early Childhood Education with licensure (birth – 8 years old) • Early Childhood Education non-licensure (birth – 5 years old) • Elementary Education (Grades K – 6 licensure including Culturally and Linguistically Diverse endorsement) • English Education (Grades 7 – 12 licensure) • Middle School Math (Grades 6 – 8 licensure) • Secondary Math (Grades 7 –12 licensure) • Secondary Science (Grades 7 – 12 licensure) • Social Studies (Grades 7 – 12 licensure) • Special Education (ages 5 – 21 licensure) • World Languages (Grades K – 12 licensure, French or Spanish)

NxtGEN recruits, prepares and supports our next generation of diverse and talented teachers who have a passion for education. The program model is an intensive, well-supported four-year approach to creating exceptional educators who have in-depth knowledge, four years of context-specific practice in a district, and a commitment to the schools and children in their internship district. HUMAN DEVELOPMENT AND FAMILY RELATIONS The Human Development and Family Relations program prepares you for many different careers across some of the fastest growing job sectors in the country. BS in Human Development and Family Relations This program is offered on-campus, hybrid and fully online. Our online students may choose a degree focus from two different course concentration areas: • Family Diversity • Human Development and Learning Our on-campus and hybrid students may choose from the following concentrations: • Bilingual (Spanish) Family and Community Services • Family Gerontology • Pre-Higher Education and Student Affairs • Leadership and Community-based Organizations • Pre-individual, Couple and Family Therapy/ Counseling

• Additional options: Students may enroll in courses in the program areas listed below. o Counseling o Early Childhood Education o Educational Foundations o Literacy Education Community service projects: Various service learning projects occur throughout the semester. Students apply skills learned in class while learning from members of the community. Study abroad in Spain: Students have an opportunity to participate in service learning with diverse Spanish families, schools and communities.

LEARNING COMMUNITIES Learning Communities (LC) are triple the fun! They include three courses that are linked together. You sign up for all three. The faculty tag team to deliver an experience that goes beyond the classroom with interdisciplinary themes, shared assignments, and fun events. But, the best part of all is bonding with your classmates and spending all that quality time together. The second-best part is that one of the courses is free.* The SEHD has two LC’s, one for our teacher education students – The Curious Teacher – and the other for our Human Development and Family Relations students – Familia y Comunidades. *The free class is a one-credit College Success course.
