What have we been busy doing in Nursery this half term? Bob the Builder/Construction Focus We had fun making houses out of junk and using waffle blocks for giant construction both inside and outside. We played with small world Bob the Builder toys and enjoyed using our imagination. Of course we all enjoyed singing the song and trying to remember all the characters names.

(We currently have an un-named jumper if anyone is missing one.) *After half term could all children have a coat with a hood as the weather becomes increasingly chilly and we will continue to use the outdoor environment in all weathers.
The Nursery children have been enjoying regular Forest Schools Sessions. This week the children made fabulous ‘Stick Men’. All the children enjoy listening to stories in the forest and other favourite activities include making mud pies, Gruffalo stew and pretending a fallen tree is a Space Ship and creating lots of imaginary journeys! If you are interested in finding out more about our Forest School sessions, why not come along to our Nursery Open Morning on Saturday 8th November at 10am and you can enjoy a sample of lots of the different activities that we offer.
Handa’s Surprise! We focussed on the story ‘Handa’s Surprise’ by Eileen Browne and explored many different elements of Africa. We had great fun joining in with the African drumming workshop at Pre-Prep and made our own drums in the Nursery. The children showed particular interest in the various animals that live in Africa and they sorted out which ones they thought belonged in Africa and which did not.
Please note that we have regrettably had to cancel the Pre-Prep Holiday Club. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. We acted out the story and tasted all the delicious fruits as well as some Cous cous .
What else have we been doing?
Day Nurseries Recommendations
The children showed great interest in dinosaurs and volcanoes so we followed their interest into these topics and even set off our own volcanic eruption! We listened to the story ‘Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs’ and used this story for counting outside.
If you and your child like our nursery, and we hope that you do, please take the time to recommend us on www.daynurseries.co.uk

Harvest & Halloween As this half term has drawn near an end, we have been learning about Harvest and Halloween and you will see some wonderful scarecrows and spiders that the children have made and are on display in the classroom.
Open Day After half term we will explore the ‘Stick Man’ story by Julia Donaldson, culminating in our wonderful Open Day on Saturday 8 th November. Also do come and visit our real ‘Stick family’, yes we hatched them ourselves!
Parent, Baby and Toddler Welcome!
Now offered here at Culford. Babies love swimming! Babies have a real affinity with water, and because they’ve spent 9 months floating in the womb, being in warm water feels much more familiar to them than being on dry land. To find out more visit... www.waterbabies.co.uk ————————————— Baby Area We have been delighted to welcome lots of young babies to our ‘Parent, Baby & Toddler Sessions’. After half term we are pleased to announce that we will have a special ‘baby area’ with baby bouncers, bumbos and playmats for the younger members of our group to use. We hope you will enjoy using them.
