CLIENT CITY OF AZTEC, NM LOCATION AZTEC, NM
DHM Design is currently working with a team of engineers to provide the City of Aztec with construction documents for extending their Main Street north of HWY 550 to connect with the proposed pedestrian trail and bridge over the Animas River linking to the Aztec Ruins National Monument. DHM Design facilitated a Public Workshop providing the advertisements and project website that proved vital for the awareness campaign that resulted in public turnout that far-exceeded the City’s early expectations. DHM Design also hosted a Land Owners meeting to bring awareness to the adjacent properties that will be impacted by the extended Main Street corridor. Initial concepts were vetted and the public were engaged to ascertain their wants and needs, and to address any concerns they had. The design draws inspiration from the Animas River Corridor’s geomorphology and Aztec’s connection to Puebloan past.

DHM Design was the landscape architect on the project design team with Elliott and Associates, Architects, and S2o Design and Engineering to design the Oklahoma City Whitewater park. The almost-fully-constructed park is a part of an ongoing downtown economic development effort that has revitalized the city’s riverfront and attracted the national office of USA Canoe Kayak. The $16 million park project will feature manmade pumped channels that create whitewater for paddlers of all abilities. As a City facility and associated with the Oklahoma River Boathouse District, the park will provide water based family recreation and host national and international paddling events.

CLIENT NATIONAL PARKS SERVICE LOCATION WASHINGTON, D.C.
The purpose of this project was to provide long-term security of the Jefferson Memorial and its visitors, while preserving the historic and cultural integrity of the Memorial. The project constructs a security barrier that will protect the Memorial from the threat of a vehicular bomb, permanently close the U-shaped driveway to create a pedestrian plaza, and create accessible parking and bus parking and drop-off. The security perimeter was designed to be in context of the Memorial’s location on the National Mall and required approval by the Commission of Fine Arts (CFA) and the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC) as well as the District of Columbia State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO).

CHEYENNE WEST EDGE/ BROWNFIELDS DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT MASTER PLAN
EMPLOYED BY DHM DESIGN
2
CLIENT CITY OF CHEYENNE, WY LOCATION CHEYENNE, WY
The City of Cheyenne needs an adequate storm drainage system for the downtown and near west side. DHM was part of a team that helped the City win a $1 million Brownfield EPA Coalition Grant to help the community redevelop the west side into a revitalized downtown amenity. This project will incorporate essential stormwater drainage management and stormwater quality features within a park amenity and create connectivity to the Greater Cheyenne Greenway System. For the City of Cheyenne’s Lower Capitol Basin Study, the goal is to strategically shape the physical and social character of the area around arts and cultural activities following assessment and remediation of the brownfield properties. Instead of traveling elsewhere for entertainment and cultural experiences, residents will invest in the local economy, hopefully. This newly created centralized park and connected parkway system will preserve the historic character of the near west side while creating new vibrant public venues.

CLIENT PRIVATE RESIDENCE LOCATION NEW CANNAN, CT
Grace Farms, with its unique blend of architecture and open space, has attracted thousands of visitors since its grand opening in October 2015. While its architecture has gained international praise, neighboring property owners have been disappointed with the lack of privacy screening bordering the property. DHM Design was hired by a private resident to develop a 3D animation to assist in their negotiations with Grace Farms to develop more effective privacy screening options. To meet the client’s schedule, a tight production schedule was developed that required developing large amounts of content in a short period of time. 3D production work was shared between the offices of Durango and Denver. With additional Photoshop work done out of Carbondale.

In partnering with the EPA, the City of Yuma set out to create a downtown revitalization master plan entitled the Old Town South Revitalization. DHM was the landscape architect on the project and teamed up with Ayres and Associates, Angela Dye studio and the City of Yuma Planning Department. DHM created strategies for downtown growth, brownfield assessment, urban renewal with a concentration of tactical mixed-use infill development, circulation, and an effective storm water drainage plan. The design team hosted several local design charettes and community forums to discuss the vision of the Old Town South Revitalization renewal plan.

BSLA THESIS PROJECT CAPSTONE LOCATION CLEVELAND, OH
The focus of my senior year at Colorado State University was capstone project. Students were expected to research and create a project proposal of their choosing. The final products were intended to be an all-encompassing expression of the student’s skill-set, problem solving capacity and interests. Students were tasked with weekly presentations and providing a series of required graphics, analyses, and narratives for the final production. My childhood was spent in Cleveland, OH and I wanted to design a site for which I am passionate.
