Dedicated to the memory of Jordie Lunn who left us way too soon. You’ll see him in some Loose Fest pics in this mag, where we had a great time with him. He will be missed and may he ride in peace with the others up there.

The season just went from full swing to slow cruising. The World Cup Downhill was anyones game this year, the freestyle events were at a never seen before level and pumptrack events have gotten more professional every day. Oh.... and freeride is still not dead! Which can not be said for 4X...... And maybe the death of 4X is a good thing as a lot of riders made the switch to pumptrack. And who can blame them! Pumptracks have a way of connecting riders from different corners of the mountainbiking and even the bmx world. Dirt jump trails have made this connection for the last 10 years. Bmx riders and mountainbikers have been riding together at local spots and respecting eachother. But pumptracks bring this connection to a whole new level as not only bmx- and mtb-dirtjumpers ride them but also freeriders, bmx racers, downhillers, scooter kids, skate boarders and yes... even cross country racers!

This summer at Loosefest XL we saw that same kind of connection in the crowd. People from all over Europe came to see the huge jumps and awesome riders. People with different styles of riding, different levels and some have never even touched a bike. Isn’t that what riding should be about? Bringing people together no matter what background, skill level or riding style. For me personally quiting racing and starting riding with friends without having to try to be the fastest has had a liberating effect. Is there a better feeling than being happy for a friend who finally took that drop off that scared the shit out of him the last few years? Or just enjoying a big event together.

Do you ride without gloves like a real man?!

Just kidding of course!! It has become a trend for a few years now. And we blame social media because a lot of pro riders ride gloveless in a lot of freeride videos. Nothing wrong with that, but have you ever tried finding the right kind of grip?

Just in case you f o rg o t about th e name o f the compoun d when trying to tell your ri din buddies about th g ese awesome grips

If you are one of those riders who prefer riding without gloves OR you have big hands then this just might be for you. The Reverse Seismic-Ergo grips look like a grip that should be on a cross country bike, but looks can be deceiving. The smooth surface is very grippy and even sweaty hands are not a problem. The silicone foam blend also takes a lot of impact away from your hands without compromising the feel you need from your handlebar. The lockrings are really nice and there is even an integrated endcap both in a variety of colors.

HUGE difference in arm pump. So if you have big hands you just got to try the 34 mm version. It will blow your mind!! Our photographer has big hands and after one day of running these in a bikepark he got these for all his bikes!

We don’t give rating but if we would this would certainly be an 11 out of 10 situation!

Check them out at www.reverse-components.com What we also really like is that it comes in different diameters. We tested the 32 and 34 millimeter versions and it makes a

t t o c S n i e t s n Franke While at Loosefest XL something caught our eye. Or rather SOMEONE caught our eye! This little kid was hitting jumps like a pro when he wasn’t hitting it with the speed some of the big guys did. And best of all .... He was still clearing them with ease!! We talked to his dad and found out he is only 9 years old. But wh en he was hitting the long jump jus t as hard as the big gu ns we decided we had to find out more about him and his freak of a bike. When we said we want ed

to do a bikecheck just

like with the pros his fa ce lit up and his freckles and sh iny red curls made the hill look a little brighter . Guenael is from a town just a few minutes from Bikepark Ferme Libert where Lo osefest is held. You could say he ’s a local and it shows. He rides with guts and style and has only done so since the last 3 years. Those little shredders always amaze us with their progress!!

He usually rides a Scot

t Voltage hardtail but th at weekend he rode the big bike. Although this big bike only has 24 inch wheels. A good suspension fork is hard to find for this kind of bike . So his dad fixed him up with an old Marzocchi Shiver Sing le Crown. Beat up but un breakable Hope disc brakes give him th e stopping power he ne eds. This bike is made out of anyting th at was in his dads shed we can imagine. And we love it!!

Someone please sponso

LOOSEFEST XL Jeroen Meersman

I saw the Loosefest jumps for the first time in 2014. I was blown away, I had never seen anything like it. Ever since I wanted to ride jumps like that. It looks so much like bmx trails, which I've been riding my whole life. I knew I was going to help Nico prepare the jumps for the event and when I asked he allowed me to drop in on the jumps as well. For a couple of months I couldn't think of much else besides how it would feel to ride the jumps.Since I've had a DH bike for only one year I doubted if I would actually jump the line. You don't want to feel uncomfortable on your bike riding those jumps. A couple of weeks before Loosefest I rode at Hillbilly Huckfest in Norway, which made me feel much more confident. In the end there's only one way to find out how it is riding said jumps. Then when I eventually dropped in knowing I was going to hit the first big hit, it felt like it was the only thing there was. It's really intense! The first lip is huge and you're going insanely fast! It's so fast that it would even be scary riding on a straight road with that speed. You're in the air for quite a bit. You really don't want to fuck up anything then. It even takes a little time after you take of before you know for sure where you'll be landing. It's the best feeling ever! Especially when you can ride the whole line. Definitely the best jumps I've ever ridden. The line is perfectly built and has an amazing flow. It feels like trails. The first time jumping it, it feels like you're a kid again jumping a real jump for the first time and realising it's more than just pedalling around what you were doing before.
