*Contemporary Ceramics by Stavroula Papadopoulou "Stavroula Papadopoulou’s aesthetic is apparently influenced by her homeland’s cultural heritage. “I am a great admirer of the architecture of the Cyclades”, she explains. “The architecture of these simple, white houses with the excellent geometry and the absence of extravagance in decoration, is in perfect harmony with the dry and rugged landscape of the islands. Adding to this all the shades of blue form the sea and the sky, whose limits are lost in the vastness of the Aegean Sea, the harmony that this picture includes becomes crystal clear. Thus, the intention of this anonymous Greek architecture to minimize the intervention in the surrounding area makes it timeless and at the same time emits something very modern. So, in my eyes, all these pictures are reflected as an aspect of the timeless minimalist design, where I would like my creations to belong”. She channels this source of inspiration to the plasticity of her experimental utilitarian objects. The common characteristic of her creations are their clear lines, simple forms and utility. The memories, the aesthetic and the persistence to a quality result give the pulse in the workshop, as she says. Papadopoulou’s ceramics seem absolutely harmonic at first glance, but the charm of her work lies in the countless contradictions that she so easily entangles. She constantly moves on a tightrope, between old and new, traditional and innovative, classic handmade and modern design. She joins the substance of the material and the traditional ceramic manufacturing methods with the modernism of the futurist design. Finally, she demands inescapable functionality of the items and constantly flirts with the boldness of transformation". *Susanne Schmidt is the ceramicist behind "The Housewife" ceramics and owner of the famous "Café Libre" in Höhr-Grenzhausen

SIMPLY FUNCTIONAL TILES, COASTERS AND SOAP DISHES

The form is familiar, the transformation, however is unexpected. As an optical illusion this ceramic work confuses, amazes and finally thrills. These colored porcelain coasters made in different sizes are inspired by the world famous children’s game. With all the wit and playfulness, which this work is based on, the ceramic object remains true to its name: "Simply functional". The smaller coasters are ideal as minimalist soap dishes or as coasters for placing mug at the desk. The large ones can serve as trivets for hot or cold kitchen utensils. Four transparent plastic pads on the bottom protect all surfaces from scratches. Whether in the kitchen, the bathroom or the living room, these beautiful coasters comprise an original and cheeky aesthetic eye-catcher.

MODERN VASE HTL2060

Strict, geometric vase with typical "breaking" of symmetry. True to the simplicity of the line, discarding everything unnecessary, the vase «HTL2060» is a study of the continuity of a form ... at least until 2060.

RIBBED VASES RIBBED VASES

All vases in the series are unique, despite their similarity. In our workshop’s classic shades of yellow, gray, white.

LUST AUF WAS GROSS-ART-IGES?

MUG SERIES

All mugs in the series are unpretentiously beautiful and unique, despite the similarity between them. The ripped pattern is made on a potter‘s wheel giving each mug a unique character. Available in our workshop’s classic shades and in two different sizes.

ROHR SERIE OF VESSELS

These ceramics accent my great passion for industrial design and my neverending playfulness. The origin of these extraordinary vessels is a piece of clutter from the hardware store without any aesthetic value, that were given a new and wonderful life. Vases made from water pipes, from clutter to wonderful! The waterpipes are transformed to vases, the paltry material into something beautiful.

JAPANESSE STYLE MINIMALISTIC SOAP DISHES MADE OF PORCELAIN

Simple and elegant. A soap dish made of a solid piece of porcelain in two different versions.

DECORATION CHRISTMAS DECORATION

White as snow and translucent as ice ... a collection of feathery snowflakes, crystals and stars.

MITTELMEER SERIE OF SMALL MAGNETS

My Mediterranean ... Small stoneware pebbles and shells with a strong neodymium magnet.

BACK TO THE FUTURE JEWELLERY

“Timeless”, “simple”, “minimalist” are all words that characterize these distinctive jewelry series. Delicate pastel colors, gold, and clear shapes create a symbiosis of pure elegance. Made of unglazed and colored porcelain, the earrings, brooches and pins make reference to the aesthetics of the 80's, but reveal/exhibit a futuristic flair. Welcome back to the future!
