Commercial Truck Driving License (CDL-A) with Hazmat Endorsement Are you ready to grab life by the wheel? New truck drivers gain experience working “over the road” driving distances that may keep them overnight during the week. But in about a year, with a safe driving record, regional jobs become an option. Our Commercial Truck Driving program is a six-week course designed to prepare graduates for employment as commercial truck drivers. In addition to the CDL license, students will also study for and take the test to receive a Hazmat endorsement which qualifies them to drive vehicles carrying hazardous materials. The program provides learning opportunities which introduce, develop, and reinforce occupational knowledge, skills and attitudes required for job acquisition. Students will prepare to pass the NJ DMV required written and road tests necessary to obtain the CDL-A license. Driving is done in a variety of conditions ranging from metropolitan areas to open territory and rolling hills. As students drive through the course, they are accompanied by an instructor who provides encouragement not only on driving techniques, but also defensive driving procedures. After you have become proficient with basic backing skills, you can then move to more sophisticated maneuvers in the yard involving other vehicles and trailers found at customer locations. Normal traffic associated with the truck terminal adds to the learning experience as students practice driving. Prerequisites: • Possess a desire to embark on a challenging and rewarding career change • Be at least 21 years old • Hold a valid automobile license with an acceptable license abstract • Pass Department of Transportation physical and drug test • Able to read, write and comprehend English Unfortunately, we cannot accept insulin-dependent diabetics.
