Walk on the WILD SIDE

Making the world a little greener

The Sage Page with our spare thyme!

Go take a hike!

I love the warmer weather! Time to go outside & explore! A few weeks ago I went on a wildflower hike with Lightening 100’s Team Green. We went to Short Springs Natural Area near Manchester, TN. The area has two waterfalls and some great woodlands...not to mention lots of hills to climb! It was a bit early for wildflowers and our guide forgot her wildflower book, but the waterfalls were lovely. If you like hiking it’s worth the short drive from Nashville - about 1.5 hours. Here’s a link with more information: http://www.state.tn.us/environment/natural-areas/natural-areas/shortspr/

Trip down memory lane... On Easter Sunday I took a walk in the woods with my parents on their farm in Cheatham county. It brought back some great memories of growing up there! The dogwoods & wild cherry trees were in full bloom, several types of ferns were popping up, and the wildflowers were still in bloom. Mom is a great wildflower guide - no book needed!

April odds & ends...

Making the world a little greener

My one adventure in cooking this month was an epic flop! I tried to make beer bread with Sam Adam’s Maple Pecan porter. I didn’t care for the taste of the beer on its own, so I thought it might make interesting bread, but NO, it was a huge waste of time & ingredients! So instead of recipes this month, how about some miscellaneous tips?
