How to join

Welcome to the Cumberland Lodge Annual Dialogue 2020. We're delighted to be hosting this event, once again, with our friends at Goodenough College, London. Normally, our Annual Dialogue would be taking place at Goodenough College, but in light of the pandemic we have moved online this year. Thank you to everyone who has registered in advance to take part on Zoom and join our question-and-answer session, and to those who are watching the live-stream on Facebook on or our website.

Zoom

This year our topic is on Arts and the Union. We examine the role of the arts in bridging cultural and political divides and helping communities to find common ground and mutual understanding. Amidst the unkown implications of Brexit, the future of the UK's arts sector feels uncertain. The impact of the pandemic on the arts adds an extra dimention to the discussion, Our guest panellists represent all four UK nations and a range of arts backgrounds. Their biographies are included in this handbook.

If you do not have an advance registration on Zoom, you can still watch or listen to our live-stream of the Annual Dialogue via our Facebook page or our website. We will also be live-tweeting on our @CumberlandLodge Twitter handle and using the hashtag #clDialogue.

Thank you for tuning into this important conversation and getting involved. We welcome your questions and thougths, and hope you find this Dialogue both thought-provoking and inspiring.

Canon Dr Edmund Newell Chief Executive

About Cumberland Lodge Cumberland Lodge was founded in 1947, in a former Royal residence in Windsor Great Park. We have a unique way of empowering people, through dialogue and debate, to tackle the causes and effects of social division. We embrace 'difficult conversations' and aim to break down silo thinking to incubate fresh ideas that promote progress towards more peaceful, open and inclusive societies. We convene timely, multi-sector conferences, seminars and panel discussions that facilitate new connections and collaborations and engage people in candid conversations on pressing issues facing society. We also commission interdisciplinary research to guide our conversations. We refine key themes of discussion into accessible reports with practical, policy-focused recommendations. We actively involve young people in all aspects of our work, and provide a variety of opportunities for sixth-formers and students to nurture their potential as future leaders and change-makers, through scholarships, and conferences and residential retreats for students from all over the world.

Registrations are now full. If you have pre-registered we will email you a link to with which you can join the event as a non-video participant. As a member of our live audience on Zoom, you will have the chance to submit questions via the Q&A function. Social media

On demand After the event, video and audio recordings will be published on our website's 'Read, Watch, Listen' pages. The audio recording will be available on SoundCloud and all major podcasting platforms.
