April 2017 - No gliders in Safety Class 1 yet.

This class of paraglider reacts mildly to all of the following manoeuvres: frontal collapse, asymmetric collapse or spiral dive. Mildly means that the above manoeuvres result in moderately dynamic reactions from the glider and/or moderate height losses. Pilots who have learned and are able to correctly apply basic recovery training techniques should be able to maintain glider control and minimise height loss in the event of one of the above manoeuvres. Generally, subsequent critical glider reactions requiring immediate and precise pilot input are not to be expected from gliders of this class. The safe use of a glider in this class requires skills learnt in standard basic training. Emergency descent methods may be performed with standard techniques and do not require special skills. As on occasion, all gliders may react more dynamically to a disturbance than expected, additional training such as regular ground handling or SIV training is recommended. ____________________________________________________
This class of paraglider reacts moderately to one or more of the following manoeuvres: frontal collapse, asymmetric collapse or spiral dive. Moderately means that the above manoeuvres result in dynamic reactions from the glider and/or large height losses. Good piloting skills which need to be regularly practised, together with good personal reaction times which are above basic training levels are required to safely fly this class of gliders. Skill and experience levels greater than those attained in basic training are required to safely recover from the above manoeuvres. Emergency descent manoeuvres, in particular spiral dives may require advanced recovery skills. Additional training such as regular ground handling or SIV training is recommended. ____________________________________________________

This class of paraglider reacts demandingly to one or more of the following manoeuvres: frontal collapse, asymmetric collapse or spiral dive. Demandingly means that the above manoeuvres result in marked dynamic reactions from the glider and/or large height losses. Advanced piloting skills which need to be regularly practised, together with good personal reaction times are required to safely fly this class of gliders. Basic recovery techniques for ending a manoeuvre are not sufficient to maintain control, reduce height loss to a minimum and prevent subsequent critical reactions. Pilots should be able to recognise the onset of the above manoeuvres and be able to prevent or minimise their effects through immediate and precise pilot inputs. Additional experience such as regular ground handling and SIV training is required to safely fly gliders of this class. Special training or pilot skills which exceed standard training may be required for the safe performance of emergency descent techniques. Gliders of this Safety Class are not suitable for beginners, irregular flyers or low-airtime pilots. ____________________________________________________
This class of paraglider reacts very demandingly to one or more of the following manoeuvres: frontal collapse, asymmetric collapse or spiral dive and may present pilots with a particular challenge. Very demandingly means that the above manoeuvres result in highly dynamic reactions from the glider, and/or large height losses. Critical subsequent glider reactions are also to be expected. Expert piloting skills achieved through constant practice, fast personal reaction times and precise pilot inputs are required to be able to immediately react to the above manoeuvres to maintain flight control and prevent large height loss or subsequent critical glider reactions. In particular, pilots should be able to recognise the onset of the above manoeuvres and be able to prevent or minimise their effects through immediate and precise pilot inputs. ____________________________________________________
