SHINING LIGHT ON MENTAL HEALTH Shining Light on Mental Health is pleased to help raise awareness of a new 3-digit number that expands resources and support for those experiencing a mental health crisis. The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (formerly known as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline) offers 24/7 call, text and chat access to trained crisis counselors who can help people experiencing suicidal, substance use, and/or mental health crisis, or any other kind of emotional distress. People can also dial 988 if they are worried about a loved one who may need crisis support. For more information about 988, please visit Lifeline (988lifeline.org). Please contact Rev. CHILDREN’S MUSIC & ART NIGHT CONTINUES It is not too late for children ages 2 through 6th grade to join us every Thursday night from 5:00-6:35 pm for Children’s Music & Art Night! Programming includes choir, handbells, handchimes, Kindermusik, art and more! Dinner is available from 4:30-6:30 pm. Donations are collected weekly on site. Adult supervision is required for dinner. (Children ages 2-3 are dismissed at 5:40 pm. Participation requires adult accompaniment.) Today is your last opportunity to view the paintings of local artist Steve Childs in the Atrium Gallery (formerly the Art Room). THE CHANCEL CHOIR: A NEW LOOK The Chancel Choir marks the beginning of the Stewardship season filled with gratitude and thanksgiving for new choir robes and new folders. New folders are provided in loving memory of M. Sue Morgan by her daughter, Anne L. Morgan. Sue loved Centenary’s music ministry and was thrilled to have the opportunity to express her faith through music as a member of the congregation and Chancel Choir. Sue believed that, in singing, it was possible to speak and pray at the same time.

MUSIC & THE ARTS JMF SINGERS IN RESIDENCE OCTOBER 8-9 Mark your calendars for a weekend you won’t want to miss. The Jason Max Ferdinand Singers, a renowned California-based professional choir, will present a FREE concert in our sanctuary Saturday, October 8, at 7 pm. A pre-concert prelude at 6:30 pm will feature the Winston-Salem Girls’ Chorus and the Winston-Salem State University Singing Rams! They’ll return on October 9 to lead 11 am worship. LOVE THY NEGHIBOR One Sunday a month, the youth and other church volunteers work together to provide a hot meal and medical clinic for our homeless and marginally housed neighbors from all around Winston. This is a beautiful time of community building that we hope you will feel called to join us for. CHARGE CONFERENCE ACTION ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2022 On Sunday, September 11, the Charge Conference of Centenary voted to sell the church owned property at 633 and 635 W. Fourth Street and the parking lot on Holly Avenue (behind the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel). In early October, the Board of Trustees will be vetting potential commercial real estate brokers to assist them in marketing the properties. If you are a member of the congregation, a commercial broker, and wish to be considered for this opportunity, please contact Mary Ann Wexler, Executive Director, via email (mwexler@centenaryws.org) to obtain a copy of the Trustees’ Request for Proposal. RFPs will be due by October 5.
